Just had my ProTurn 460 with a Yaamaha engine blow up. Buying a low hour, older ProMaster 260 to use as my backup. Having new Kawasaki engine put in my ProMaster 252 when THAT Yamaha engine blew. Avoid Yamaha, go Kawasaki! Love Gravely.
@@rhinely850 good to hear there are still some of these out there. Just had a weird misfire issue with mine. Did normal tune up stuff and treated the field and it’s running great again. Also just put a new pto clutch on it because the old one was getting very sloppy and noisy. Otherwise it’s still going strong. Mine still only has about 600hrs on it. Best machine I could ask for for the $3,500 or so I paid for it used!
Mines is older 08 had 80k when i bought it did same maintenance as you at 89k my engine died just like yours and i had 123k on mines when it happened strange... i wanted to get 200 to 300k out of it so lookiing into ideas cheap may e 3800 or ls4 any ideas
I mean, honestly, it would probably be not much more if any more expensive to just rebuild your engine, depending on what is wrong with it or find another good engine out of the same exact van to swap into yours. Would be so much simpler and easier to just put back in the same engine that came out of it. By the time you buy everything else you need to put a different engine in it. I don’t think you would be saving yourself any money and would be way more headache. This engine I found for our van had only 74,000 miles on it and came out of a direct one. we have been driving for several years now and just drove it all the way from Missouri to Florida for vacation a few weeks ago and it has been great. I think I only paid about $1300 for this engine and it was a direct swap obviously went ahead and did a new timing, water pump, and all that stuff while it was out. Unless you are wanting to build something cool for a specific reason at the end of the day it’s just a minivan. I would say keep it simple for yourself.
14ft. I went that high because I built a 400sq ft loft hangout entertainment area. I have a newer video of my red 65 c10 where I do a walk around video of the shop at the end and I have a full build breakdown video I have almost done I just need to finish editing that tells all the details and breaks it down by cost. Spoils have had that video done by now but work has been keeping me crazy busy.
You’re a fool the price and hours are a steal machines worth $6000 all year long The needed repairs are minimal few hours at most I have one I bought used about same price hours ITS A BEAST A FUCKING BEAST UP 50 degree sloped clear cuts over stumps and swales friends on atvs can’t keep up coming down with 1000 lbs of 4’ logs put 29” tires on it for even more stump jumping ability
Never really considered it cause it’s our family car and I was just focused on finding the same compatible engine to get it back on the road as quickly and simple as possible. J37 may have fit but would have likely needed a different ecu, possibly different mounts, different sensor harness, possibly not compatible with our transmission either. Why go through all that trouble for my wife’s daily driver and family hauler plus all the extra money?
Yeah unfortunately I sold the car a couple years ago before he was really old enough. I’m building something different now more suited for my kids to jump in and ride more often.
Yes 40x50. It’s actually not all one pad. They poured the porch as a separate pad and sloped it out, but you are correct. It’s taking me a long time, but I’m trying to finish editing the video where I go over all the details of the bill, including costs of everything. Hopefully in the next couple weeks at least I will have that video out if that is something you are interested in. It will likely be at least a 20 minute long video, but I will also have an easy breakdown of total price you can skip to if you don’t want to listen to all the details. Also, if you look at one of my more recent videos about my red truck, you will see the inside of the shop. Looks nothing like it did in this video. Much has changed.
I actually sold the car 2 years ago. It was time to move on and try something different. Built my dream shop and now I’m building a 65 bagged c10 short bed. I do wish I could have kept it and do a new build. The guy that bought it has done some nice upgrades but it has never been boosted.
I grew up having nothing Honda cars, my first one was an 84 CRX HF then I got an 89 CRX DX that eventually did a ZC SOHC VTEC swap on it. Went thru several different more hatchbacks. Halfway thru my time in the military i bought a 93 NSX which i unfortunately totalled. in the rain. I've also had a 05 and 06 CBR 600RR. Then a Ridgeline and now a Pilot. The only non Honda car i had was a 2013 Mini Cooper S. Now I'm thinking of getting an S2000 for a. daily. driver.
Beautiful build man! You did it right, nice clean lines....from the metal outward protecting it from metal cancer i.e. rust! I rebuilt 3 classic mustangs about 20+ years ago, buying my first 91' CRX in the next week....I will be hitting you up for specifics, hope you don't mind. Thanks for your inspiration man!
Thanks man I appreciate it. Good luck with your build. Feel free to reach out but it’s been almost 10yrs since I finished that car and I sold it a couple years ago. I’ve forgotten probably half of what I did to it now but if I can help I will.
Stunning. Labour of love in both the rebuild and the video production. Kudos, superb job, you've got great friends and wife supporting you. They've all got their fingerprints on this.
Nice. I’m the original owner of my 1991 Honda CRX HF 5-speed hatchback with only 148k original miles. It’s funny because I’m from California and I too left my headlights on yesterday and the battery died at Walgreens. I was calling my son to come and gave me a “jump start”, however, a nice guy by the name of Matt helped me get it going, the “old school” way. He pushed it, as I held onto the front of the car, pushing it too and jumped in it, popped the clutch and it started right up. Not too bad for a gal, who will be 61 next week.
Well done. If you like these cars I think you’ll like this video showing the whole build of my car from day 1. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jCQ-DfzxIiY.htmlsi=kIO9kmmIfgkDfw_5
Thanks for posting this video. My 06 rancher was the same way. Exhaust pushrod mashed in and ball was disconnected. I had worn rockers and rocker shaft. I had to weld up the shaft and machine it back down on a lathe. The rockers and pushrods were available but I had no luck finding a new or used shaft. Thanks again!!!
I had a B16A swapped '91 Civic Si in Tahitian Green Pearl, and man do I ever miss that car. I'm still sitting on all the JDM and European parts I bought for it, and I'm hoping I'll come across another one some day that someone isn't selling for 15 to 20 thousand dollars.
Great video man! The new truck is great, I would just shorten the 65 frame as well, that way your 66 will be worth more when you sell it as an original SWB since your gonna have to hack up a frame for air ride etc anyway. That loft is so killer, I wish I had thought to design something like that into my shop. Though mine is smaller at 30x40. Keep at it bro!
Thanks dude good to hear from you. I like making nicer quality videos but I wish quality of the videos translated to more views. It’s a lot of work and it’s exhausting trying to work and film so I get burnt out which is why I go periods without releasing videos. Also been super busy getting my shop built the way I want before I get started on this truck build. Thanks for still being a loyal subscriber! You got any videos coming out or what have you been up to?
@@diversedad7954 I completely understand you I guess just gotta keep it as a hobby and man I wish I could make more videos but I just don’t drive the Crx as much I got my commercial license and I just don’t wanna risk it
I understand that. That's one thing I'm looking forward to with a low slow truck. Still really fun to go out cruising and go to car events but no temptations to do fast risky driving. The most trouble I may get in is doing burnouts lol. I had lots of time driving cars and motorcycles fast. Time to enjoy something different.
I’m open to criticism, I’m not a mechanic. I’m just a guy that does all my own maintenance including putting a new motor in this van 2 years ago. I’m just trying to share little things to make it easier for guys like me just trying to maintain their cars. Your comment doesn’t add anything of value to anyone. I’m open to hear what I did wrong in order to help others. Only thing I would add is it’s easier to just dump fluid down the dipstick tube which works fine but technically isn’t the fill hole.
Love those cars! I’m a muscle car guy myself, but I had some friends with those things back in high school and they were an absolute blast to drive! They were like go carts😁
You shouldn’t limit yourself to being just a “Muscle car guy”. I own a 65 and 66 c10 pickups I’m building right now. I appreciate lots of things about lots of different cars. Btw I did a 20 minute professionally about documentary on the entire build of this car if you check out my channel. I think you’d really enjoy it.
@@diversedad7954 I'll have to check that out. I can appreciate almost everything automotive/motorsports related. We actually owned two different Honda Fit Sports that served as our main family vehicle when our kids were small. Those cars reminded me a lot of how I enjoyed the CRX's.
@@musclecarcamaroman9092 here is a link to the full build video of the CRX. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jCQ-DfzxIiY.htmlsi=9gh-nS3sARtUGCbh
nice video, good method of adding fluid. I have a tapered funnel that I use to fill the tranny through the dipstick, which is much easier. I also do a drain and fill only about every 10000 miles after doing it the first time at 15000 miles. I also always use Honda fluid as you pointed out. Look forward to see more of your content.
As long as the weather conditions permit, you could definitely stop one day and continue another. It actually holds itself up pretty sturdy once you start getting the bricks packed in together pretty tight.
It was just standard b series shift linkage and the shifter knob in the car was from a da Integra I believe. It was in the car years ago when I bought it. I switched out to an aftermarket one that looked nicer but went back to the oem Integra one cause I just liked the feel and more of an oem look.
About to pick up a del sol vtec factory b16 auper clean. I could only afford single cams in my teens and here i am 40 getting what i wanted 20 years ago lol
I know the feeling lol. I just saw a super nice clean completely stock del Sol in a really nice neighborhood the other day which made me really happy to see in a neighborhood full of super fancy new cars lol. I definitely like the CRX platform better but the Dell sol is pretty cool and just about as hard to find as a clean CRX these days. Especially the VTEC model.
You’re right. I went against all my better judgement because I couldn’t find what I wanted locally and let my emotions take over. I knew better and screwed up. Just sharing mistakes so others don’t make the sane. Ended up finding a pretty much brand new 2017 mid sized unit with only 150hrs on it. Had it for a year and it’s been flawless.
My 08 700 xp meter quit and man they’re high $$. So I unplugged my big connection on where it hooks to the harness. I had like 3 to 4 pins ate up looked like corrosion. So I made some jumper wires passed the plug and bam back to working. Good luck shopping.
