Ethno is JM International's program for folk, world and traditional music. Founded in 1990, it is aimed at young musicians (up to age 30) with a mission to revive and keep alive global cultural heritage. Present today in over 40 countries, Ethno engages young people through a series of annual international music camps as well as workshops, concerts and tours, working together with schools, conservatories and other groups of youth to promote peace, tolerance and understanding.
At the core of Ethno is a democratic, peer-to-peer learning approach whereby young people teach each other the music from their countries and cultures. It is a non-formal pedagogy that embraces intercultural dialogue, understanding and appreciation. Ethno provides a unique opportunity for young people from across the globe to come together and engage through music with respect, generosity and openness.

I notice that few people from the choir actually open their throat. They'll struggle singing Bulgarian like that 😉. Amazing video. It has this vibe almost like the traditional Bulgarian Orthodox singing.
Swedish and Norwegian traditional music have many elements in common. Tonally we have the same kind of «off» notes like the not quite major seventh of the scale, and also the floating third halfway between major and minor. A main difference is that in Norway people play and sing very much solo, the Swedes mostly play in groups. But they mix and match too, Ale plays a lot with Norwegian performers, and there is a healthy interchange. Tradition rolls on, finding new forms.
Minute 2:49. Ist das nicht etwa unsre Sarah, die Botschafterin der kolumbianischen Musik? Verdammt ähnlich dann. Bei DER Musik fühl ich mich irgendwo in die Alpen, in Böhmen, so was, versetzt. Sei es drum.
