The electric eye beam timed Jim in 9.89 seconds. They are an accurate timing device. Therefore, I consider his 9.89 to be accurate and the valid new world record that Jim set in 1968. God bless Jim Hines; may he rest in peace.

as fast as Seb Coe's 1:41.73 except Coe did it with basic running spikes back in 1979. You would think if everything was perfect he could go faster but then again Rudisha ran 1:40.91 on his own too.

Great video! I had only seen Harrison's jump once before several years ago so good to see it again - he was the second athlete to go 17.90m that season which had never happened before. Also Michael Johnson finishing 4th in that 100 just a few days before that brilliant 19.85 200 in Edinburgh.

Marlies could've/should've run in the 10.65-10.70 range. However, her arm mechanics and short, choppy stride were her two downfalls. She has tremendous turnover (stride frequency), but never learned to balance that with a better stride length by relaxing at top speed. The DDR sprint program never seemed to understand that...suprising given how logical and structured they were as a program.
