Cheers. I cleared this using the little mini Hori stick I got for the Switch. Wanted to test it out before I take delivery of my physical copy of Tetris Effect It works with Steam games just fine. It's small and very light but it's a decent little stick for the price Have tried the Switch port of Mushi with it too and it plays very nicely. Got a physical copy for Switch for collecting purposes. I am back at Futari Original.
@@davy_K If you're talking about the Hori mini I think you're talking about, I swear by that stick! I have others but the mini works like a charm and I almost never touch anything else these days due to the convenient size and how suitable it is with my shifting sitting, squatting, standing positions.

The control and physics in this game are superb - there is literally no skill ceiling. This particular level looks easy but the some of those simple little jumps are so hard to get just right. Some of the other levels look more impressive. You can go for the equivalent of a 1CC in this game - each world has an "iron man" challenge to achieve - beating all 20 levels in a world on one life. I've only managed it on the first world. Check out my 6-5X practice clip - shows how tight things have to be to beat a level!
You gotta get better at shooting UFO's- back in the day, I could shoot them while drinking a beer without looking... personal best over 45,000 points on an arcade game at a bowling alley...
Congratulations for the 1cc!! The dodges in the final boss were very very good. In my case I usually do that part very badly. The Maniac mode is a lot of fun, so good luck if you try it!!
My level 5 back end and the boss are the most satisfying parts of the run - but I'm annoyed I had to pull those dodges off without having a couple of extra lives in stock. I have done those dodges before but never in one run. Maniac is next but I'd like to return to original and get a 1CC with a life or two in stock to get the 10m bonus per life.
Well, making a good run in these games is usually a matter of repetition. If you are able to do those dodges, surely with more attempts you will succeed. Good luck with that!!! (Sorry if there is something that is not understood, I do not speak English).
Oh my goood dude this was wild!!! The couple of hits you took early stage 5 must have put you in a state where you knew you needed to smarten up because your dodging amidst the chaos of the stage's second half was magnificent! And the final boss was crazy! My kind of ending! Huge congrats on this, that's a long haul for sure!
That's hilarious. I knew the fairies are good, but not that good! Looks like this will only work if you've got the cape, but good to know nonetheless. Wonder if it works in the Megadrive version.
This is such a solid session Davy! Great to see more and maaan, you're getting closer and closer. Your dodging skills are tight, especially the final attack of the mid-boss. Super awesome stuff and stoked for more!!
Apologies for the rotated display but I've gone full TATE on this and the Steam port doesn't let me record practice sessions ........ only game runs. So I have to record practice sessions using Windows 10 game features with the image rotated. I've got to the final level with 3 lives on a few occasions now but I keep messing up - so I need to get some more level 5 practice under my belt. The 1CC is getting close......
Awesome run! Mushihimesama on Easy/Novice was first shmup I managed to 1CC.. Normal looks pretty wild tho. Your video makes me want to give it a shot, even though I'd probably choke later into the run. 1CC keeps the tension so damn high. Lol
It's a question of regular practice. Getting comfortable one level at a time. I actually think Original on Normal is probably one of the easier 1CCs. I'm in my 50s so if I can do it, anyone can! I have started playing a couple of credits on Maniac before stepping back down to Original - makes a difference.
I would encourage you to tackle it and honestly - choking later in the run is normal as that's part of the learning process. If you're not into the high tension of going for a 1cc, 2cc, 3cc or whatever else is just as great and after you bang out your multi-credit clear, you can use that as a gauge for improving. Let's say it takes you 5 credits, take a look at where you struggled the most and clean up that particular area. If you do, chances are you'll be able to easily shave off at least one credit and before you know it you'll be more confident in going for a 1cc. Just my two cents worth.
@@shadowledastray I want to chime in since just this morning I was thinking about a future topic specifically on reaction time. Many people have this idea that reaction time fades with age but I personally believe this to be a myth. I think what it boils down to is how people approach these games and how immersed they are. If it's a casual, once in a while game you jump into, then it will of course feel like your reaction time is suffering as the years roll on because that part of you is not being exercised or nurtured regularly. What I've learned from my own experience is that my reaction time only improves the more I play. Seeing your comment definitely has me brainstorming now, so thanks for that!
@@ShmuptopiaYeah, I had a friend suggest it once, he saw me struggling with Pulstar.. Kept getting hit and being sent back to earlier checkpoint. He suggested I was getting older so should try some RPGs instead. Haha Problem is my attention span isn't the best, so long narrative driven games are harder for me to stick with. My motivation does take a dip when I start feeding the game extra credits. I guess because I see 1CC as this ultimate goal. Or maybe it's from starting out with high score games like Centipede and Galaga, games without a set number of levels.. So, whatever score you got, is what you got. Lol

Cheers...I really should have had the no-miss up to level5 - my life losses in level 4 were really silly mistakes. And those early losses in lvl5 were stupid too!!! Hopeful it's close.

@@Shmuptopia Damn right - I won't be so close to the lvl4 boss after that pattern the next time!!! :) I'll probably record a lvl5 session and then press for the 1CC. I believe that having scrub tier players like me showing videos makes others have a go. Watching WR or no-miss runs is great but it's demoralising too!!!
@@davy_K Yeah exactly! Super skillful sessions are great to see but they ultimately don't serve those more on the new side of things. I almost never bother watching superplays because I have waaay more interest in watching people tackle something for the first time. It's more exciting watching their journey.

Just a 360 Hori Ex2 fight stick. Pretty cheap but good enough for me. If you want a real laugh watch my "Layer Section level 6 Pain 2" practice video. Theatre of Pain.

Yikes! I subscriber. 😀 I don't really take my YT channel seriously - more a way of documenting my runs at shooters. One day I intend to add commentary though I've often wondered if my accent will be accessible (I'm from Northern Ireland). 😀 Not sure of my skills though. I need to be able to beat this level with 1 life loss max if I am to beat this game on 1 credit. I'll do it one day.
Well done! Stuck is indeed the most powerful in general, due to having very powerful piercing explosive cannonballs as well as the second-fastest movement speed in the game. Ruby's very strong too, particularly for her concentrated fire against small targets such as the true last boss, but she has the hardest stage order of any character.
Tried for ages with Ruby and got very close but could never quite do it. Found Stuck a lot easier especially on level 5. I should go back and try to clear it with Ruby.....some day maybe.
I tried my best to get this character to become available on my copy of this game... I think the region detection is just a little bit too good, I have a cartridge that switches regions, and a Japanese copy of the game, but it still won't let me access the character... It adds his sounds to the sound test once you reach the score needed to unlock him, but will not let you select him, Joe Kudou remains in that position.
@@TheKayliedGamerChannel-RU-vid have the Saturn version myself. Used mame for this recording because it's easier to just make inp files and then record the playback. First played this on my pal Saturn but have upgraded to the jp version on my jp console. It's a damn good port. Plays the same as far as I can tell. Better than the ps2 tatio legends version.
Earlier than that even ! Space Invaders came out '78. I created this video to show what many have either forgotten or didn't know about this game`because they weren't around then. To make the most of this technique you are supposed to shot count to get 300 for the UFO every time.
Thanks for that. It's a Panasonic TX-25X1/BC. It's a PAL set but it works just fine with an NTSC source as long as I can connect it up to the 1st SCART input using RGB. Running a JP white Sega Saturn through this that way. I'm using a powered SCART switch (a Thor brand) for convenience. The image actually looks a bit bit better in reality but my camera does a decent job of recording ghetto style. I'm pretty pleased with how the image is centred too - I lose a tiny amount off the left hand side. That's a common thing with RGB SCART but with this set , it's really only a very small amount - hardly worth mentioning actually. I lose a bit more off this recording but that's because I could have positioned my camera better! Overall it's a really lovely set. I rotate it from time to time to play TATE shooter games and it has no problems dealing with that either. I just leave it powered off for a time before moving it. It has an DIN style s-video input at the front which I use my modded SNES with and it gives me a great picture as well. I use an Atari 2600 with it via RF and I even get a really nice picture that way so the RF tuner must be good quality too. Only complaint I have with it is that I can't run NTSC consoles via s-video or composite - Get a black and white image that way which is a pity. Using an old Canon Powershot camera in video mode I bought 12 years ago or so to take pics when I took the family to Eurodisney! Have a tripod for it now but I didn't have the legs levelled properly which explains the slight angle of the image....need to be better at that!
+WhatsOnMyShelf 7800 has a small library and there isn't much in the way of exclusives. Food Fight is worth a look thiugh. Don't think any other console got a port of that game. Quite nice and plays a bit like Robotron. There are some really nice homebrew titles getting cartridge releases. Check out the shop at atariage.com
I thought Food Fight was on the 2600 as well. I appreciate recommendation for AtariAge. I was hoping for personal experience with exclusives that might make me turn my head.
WhatsOnMyShelf Didn't think Food fight was on the 2600 but I could be wrong. I got the Pacman Collection cartridge for 7800 from the atariage shop and it is very good indeed.
Sadly the NTSC does sound better, if you go by youtube videos. The PAL sounds half-asleep by comparison. I grew up with the PAL Mario Bros and Desert Falcon though, so I dont mind.
I wouldn't know. In the past week I found my PAL 7800 and Mario Bros. Its better than I thought it would be, but I wish it wasn't squashed. One thing I've noticed is that the 7800 sounds more charming in person than it does when digitised over the internet. PS, if you'd clicked reply on my comment then it would have sent me a notification email. It didn't because you just commented on the video.
