Acknowledged as one of Ireland’s most successful bands of their generation, The Frames released their 1st album Another Love Song in 1992. For 10 years they bounced through various record deals and line-ups releasing 2 albums Fitzcarraldo & Dance The Devil along the way. Shaking free of outside influences, they released For The Birds on their own Plateau label in 2001.
Amidst constant touring the band released their live opus Set List in 2003. In 2004 they signed an international record deal with Anti and released their 5th studio album Burn The Maps. In 2006 they released their 6th studio album The Cost.
2020 marks the 30th year of musical collaboration and friendship and hopefully some shows next year to mark this milestone…
I was an accidental guest at this night having the good fortune of the Frames borrowing my harmonica holder and gaining a free ticket. I missed the start of the set because I was traveling back to the hostel to get the holder, which meant I had no idea beers were free. I had the pleasure of meeting Glen at the after party and told him I was the one who had lent him the harmonica holder and he politely returned a blank stare, and now having finally watched the whole show I know why because he didn't fkn use it haha! The most memorable night of my 2014 European tour and arguably my favourite gig ever. Got plenty of offers to couch surf that night but I think everyone was too hung over the next day to return my messages. I stumbled out of Wheelans at around 6am after a lockin to end all lock ins. Didn't realise til now this was on the toob. Sweet memories.
Can we pleeeeease finally get some Frames shows to make up for the New York and Chicago ones that were cancelled in 2020? I flew over to Dublin in 2022 but am dying for another!!
I remember when Glen first played this for me and Bronagh on a couch in Rathmines and talking about the film and the whole I shall eclipse you moment .. good times 🏴☠️
Casi 35 años de esta joya, tan oculta, de la musica Irlandesa. Afortunado soy de haber conocido a este tremendo grupo. Almost 35 years of this hidden gem of Irish music. I am fortunate to have met this tremendous group.
Best Irish rock music video on RU-vid, Colm Mac ConIomaire on Fitzcarraldo with band is mind blowing 👏. If this is repeated for Whelans 35 years please please let me in. 🍻
Its interesting, I spent my 20s really listening to this album over and over. Glad to really be past that but - it meant that the ears that were blessed was also forgotten, even erased. They were "past cringeworthy me'" `s ears lol.
