I think in the beginning Ted wasn't necessarily trying to be a murderer but the murder became necessary because otherwise he'd be caught. After the first couple murders, he ended up becoming addicted to the killing. I don't think that was his original motivation

While it's true that Bundy wanted to inflict pain, harm and eventually death, the sexual aspect of it isn't separate like that guy states. He talks about rape as a sexual act and although sex is involved, rape IS an act of violence. It's less about the sex and more about inflicting pain and domination over the victim, so the violence and the sex are not mutually exclusive.
I believe he witnessed domestic violence in his grandfathers home. Also his mother may have been raped by her father. Violence is a learned behavior. Psychologists need to look more into his family history and it's precipitated to stop further serial killers being bred from horrific childhoods.

Bundy showed signs of psychosexual problems long before he met Stephanie. His immaturity and lack of ambition are symptomatic of psychopathy. They are too lazy to do any real work to succeed and workplace psychopaths take credit for the work of others and "succeed" that way. Stephanie was from a rich family and Ted probably hoped to get a cushy high powered high paid job through her father. When Stephanie broke up with him this inflicted a narcissistic injury, not real heartbreak. And he got revenge on her. There was no need for him to take his rage out on others. He did that because he wanted to. And he may still have become a serial killer even if Stephanie had married him. He would have soon gotten bored with her and been unfaithful and or abandoned her. He was angry because she got to it first. And many of his victims did not look like Stephanie. They did not all have hair parted in the middle and Janice Ott looked blonde in some photos.
Yes, no one becomes a serial killer because they've been lied to by their parents or their love interest dumps them, but any perceived slight can become a rationalization for killing. Just not the antecedant. Serial killers have a compulsive need to kill and all indications are that they begin as children or teenagers killing or torturing animals and then escalating to killing humans, usually with a psychosexual element..

That's the point. A lot of these serial killers blend in without anybody knowing nor suspecting who they are. My take on it is, if you have any suspicions about a relative or friend, keep an eye on them from a distance and report your findings to the police. At worst, you will piss off someone who is completely innocent and at best, you could be helping to make a successful case to prosecute a killer.

There are times.....many times I don't think the death penalty is appropriate but in Bundy's case I think it's necessary and the electric chair (which I think is terrible) is too good for a person like Bundy......how many more are out there or will be out there? Come on now, are you really implying the jailers anticipated he would escape through a ceiling duct? That cell probably held thousands of inmates, this one was the first to use that duct to escape and then they took measures to secure it. You're overreaching don't you think?

This need to control, once in prison could only be met by lacing the truth with self-serving fiction, and engaging the interests of investigators, psychologists, journalists and even the women who were sadly attracted to him. It's a pathetic shell game: Look over here at the handsome, brilliant victim of pornography; while the necro child rapist disappears from view. There are gaping holes in his narrative around questions of how long he was with a victim alive, vs dead; or incredulous explanations of the evidence that he put makeup on the corpses so they wouldn't be recognized if found. He also wouldn't admit to the likelihood that he began his career as a serial killer while still a teenager; not because he wants to protect his family, as he claims, but more in service to the image he projected that made it easier to continue to feed his need to control and manipulate.
