Anyone else think this is the same guy in Mafia 2 named Giuseppe. Giuseppe also was a safe cracker. Had a thicker accent than most others in the game and had the ability to forge documents which also means he could've changed his name.
@@gameinyourlanguage That's because in the game they subbed it as "Pacenza" instead of the correct term "Pazienza", so you might have got "Peace" by searching the incorrect sub verison
As a sicilian, I cringe at the language, but I highly appreciate the effort. VA is clearly american, but he speaks a pretty good Italian, makes me think he knows the language. Unfortunately, sicilian is a different language, normal Italians cannot speak it properly...
There is no way in hell that Tommy Angelo, who was born in Italy and lived there for years with his whole ass italian family can't speak a word of italian. The fuck were they all speaking in that household?
You know what I never liked about any foreign characters in most dubs? They never have an accent. Like, in english they speak with that newyork italo-american accent, in italian some speak normal italian and some with a sicilian accent, in french they all sound like any generic french person, no accent at all. Make them I dunno, speak with a corsican accent? Something that shows that "hey this guy is not a native and he speaks with a different accent"
No I think they hired an English actor to speak Italian 😂 his accent and way of speaking are so goofy and he constantly interrupts himself and mispronounces words
He is so bad actually, he's obviously an american trying to speak italian, he is so goofy with it. I appreciate the detail, but in italy we have a long tradition of voice actors, why not just use a real italian actor? Salvatore should be Sicilian, form Sicily, the southern island of Italy.
*"i never got past this mission because it was so fucking hard"* I never understood my comments get deleted when I use swear words on the comments, but when other people use swear words, their comments never gets deleted. Does YT not know that people also swearing in public out their HQ? Banning comments for swearing should be a violation.
I'm a native portuguese that went to Italy, once. We could understand stuff that was written down, but neither me nor my family could figure out what anyone said out loud.
Considering the year the game is set and the fact that Tommy's last name is Angelo, he must at least have italian parents so how can he not speak italian at all? I guess back then italians who went to america told their kids to feel american otherwise they would have just be seen as mafia guys or guidos by americans so they didn't even teach their homeland's language to them
Yeah but he emigrated at what age though? If he was older than 3 he definitely should remember his native fucking tongue. I also don't believe the Angelos switched to english forever immediately after docking.
@@StuartLynx 1930's was a different time period than nowadays, many Italians who moved to the US probably didn't bother to teach their kids their language.
Interesting, thanks for uploading! Also, cool concept for a channel. Looks like I can use this channel a little for my ongoing study of the Italian language!
I really prefer if they just kept the Sicilian in the English version, at least it felt more authentic since most Italians are from Sicily, especially the onew with the ties of La Costa Nostra
@@The_D_ray the attention to detail and depth is obviously what I’m referring to, this game is also clunky as hell from what I’ve seen, made headlines for that.
@@PartyHatDogger Ah ok. Yeah I guess the original was "realistic", but too much considering it made it HORRIBLE to play. I did not play this one, only the original, but from what I've heard it's a lot less annoying to play.
@@The_D_ray the original does have problems, more so the pc version, you were supposed to use a racing wheel to drive, but obviously no one has that, so instead of being able to turn your wheel exactly how you’d want to he fuckin slooooowly turn it, yo I have to bind a new key to get him to actually crank that thang hard left and right, that was a developer oversight, the remakes shit driving is developer choice, they wanted to make a pretty game to look at, that was much more like mafia 2 with the driving of 3
game was option of simulation based driving, i prefer easy drive and automatic gears. (you can choose hard mode, where you even need to shift gears manually)
As an italian myself, the fact that at 15 seconds he says 'I understand' using the dialect rather than in the 'normal' italian he speaks later is quite strange, but interesting (Considering the point of view of someone who may not speak Italian at all). However, while speaking inside of the car in the english version of the game, he speaks italian as if he almost forgot it and hasn't used it for a long time. I would say the pronunciation is almost done in a 'Comical way', speaks using accents on the wrong letters, which contradicts the way he speaks at 15 seconds. Edit: When he says 'Entriamo dal labirinto' would be translated as: We enter from the labyrinth (And then the rest of the translated phrase, without mentioning any building)
Guys, For some reason, When i change the speech language of the game, It doesn't works and still stays on English. Like in the settings it's put to another language (Like french, turkish, german etc) But ingame, It's still English. What should i do?
the answer is how to mix the translator when the translator combined both languages in the same order inving though doesn't make sence at all inving the protagonist itself doesn't speak Italian that much
The only Italian I know is yo soy Italiano, and that’s it although I’m surprised that Tommy doesn’t know more Italian considering that he’s the son of Italian immigrants. Edit: I know my Italian is wrong people, check the replies.
Yes! I was curious what happens with Tommy talks Italian? In this case, Italian guy speaks Italian, but in a local language (region based) Just Like English is spoken bit different way country to country. Really well made remake ❤️
Not really the first time it happens. Most of the times in Italian dubbings, the "Italian" characters just have different accent to give a similar effect.
