If one were pedantic, one might point out that New York skyscrapers weren't lit up like that in the early 60s ...................... But what a great stage set they make! Now that one can no longer see them all from any rooftop.
[Intro] If this is what my family has to be Then I don't need one watching over me A family doesn't make you sleep outside A family doesn't laugh and say you lied Remember what a home is Think of how your life should be [Chorus] But you're stuck in the middle of a moment Can't crawl out of where you are Only steps away, the world's okay But you can't see that far Stuck in the middle of a moment That's halfway to somewhere new Can't go back You're moving through [Pre-Chorus] You'll have to think in ways you've never thought You'll have to make the best of what you've got Find the answers hiding in between See a door that no one's ever seen Something's there, you feel it Stop to look it's all around [Chorus] So you're stuck in the middle of a moment No clear path, no shining star Just a step away the world's okay So try to see that far And there in the middle of a moment You're halfway to somewhere new Can't go back Keep moving through [Bridge] 'Cause there is magic Now you know You made magic Made it grow And marvelous, wonderful things can come true [Outro] In the middle of a moment In the middle of a moment In the middle of a moment You're on your way
Why are they letting Linkletter do the film, they should get whoever did this and do it right! And Sondheim as the producer, I miss Stephen more than I can say, you are Donald Pippin.
When Sondheim, as Producer, sings, "Dee..dee..dee..deee..." It's to the approximate tune of "Some Enchanted Evening" from "South Pacific," which was written by Oscar Hammerstein, who was Sondheim's mentor.
Sondheim was wrong - he wrote some great hummable melodies. He just let some people judge his stuff who wouldn't know a great melody if it bit them in the butt.
It puts it in its time (1959), also not racist to make references of popular businesses: Vietnamese nail salons, Irish pubs, Mexican subcontractors. As far as doing the voice, that’s a debate
i find him having the lyrics open wildly hilarious. any darren stan would know why. let's see if we can find the real, hardcore darren fans out there ;)
