A channel for everything I love, carried over from the previous ShadowAlex. See also my Lets Play on Drak and Shadow and some additional content on my secondary channel ShadowBlazer300X2
I like how Haseo can actually be really easily explained as "A blue covenant character" with modern gaming. The Extent to which the Souls games pivoted the concept of the best of games while having this loose online element really makes me feel like a modernized Dot Hack game would have to have Souls-like multiplayer.
The Mashimo pan 😭 Those pans alone made up almost this entire series haha I just finished watching this and agree that it was not particularly good, and often confusing. The way Layla just laughs and leaves everyone at the end, and no one pursues her, almost made me think, somehow, that she got played/manipulated by the others, like a real doll. In that sense, Layla's departure is a bit easier to swallow for me. I imagine my interpretation is totally wrong but that goes to show how confused and convoluted the plot was. Oh well! Definitely not Bee Train's best 😅 Great review! 👍
5:29 "lasy animation" Gong to counter this is the same in the manga and it highlights Watanuki's detachment from the everyday world with the exception of the few people he is close with. Since we're following Watanuki in the story having everyone washed out like this portrays his introversion in a perfect way that shows not tells the audience.
I finished recently the anime.I searched anime recommendations about Gosick and found this series. It has become one of my favorite anime. To be honest I listen only to the ending song because I didn't like watching the live action ending. And I never skipped the opening. Instead of season 2 we have an ova episode.Well done (sarcasm). In the interent it s also quite difficult to find all the volumes of the novels. RIP Gainax and Funimation. And yes it isn't an anime that everyone will like. But if it suits your tastes then you won't regret it. For me it is a hidden gem and a master piece.
i don't believe there's anywhere to really watch the original series but the remake series is probably streaming somewhere like Amazon or Hidive maybe.
those 4 .hack PS2 games were/are still some of the best games I have ever played. I would say FFXI (for those that know pre Abyssea) is the only other game that I can say I liked as much. I remember showing a friend I think the 2nd game, where you fight that dragon near the end of the game. I walked up to it and it did its area of attack stomp and wiped us all out. Needless to say my friend was not impressed. Is there a way to play those 4 PS2 games again legit way through some store of not?
I'm sad to say there's still no way to play the originals beyond finding original copies or emulation. Bandai Namco doesn't seem interested in re-releasing or remastering.
Its pretty simple really; there are three linear timelines: The World, IRL, and non-canon. Sign and IMOQ take place at the same-ish time, then roots, then Link. The second row is simultaneously occuring irl events. The novels and manga are all non-canon. They retell the stories of other media in different ways. Its not rocket surgery. Im preemptively posting this because 2025 is the year of dot hack, dot hack fans just dont know it yet.
This year, I sent a postcard to the creator Yoh Yoshinari. TRIGGER announced that it has ordered a free grand exhibition for the 10th anniversary of Little Witch Academia across Taiwan. The special exhibition will be launched as soon as possible for a total of five months. I declare Atsuko Kagari to be the cardboard stand-up mascot favored by studio Trigger executives, Atsuko kagari would go on to become the mascot of Studios TRIGGER and was featured in their production logo up. P.S. : i and Trigger fans love Akko is the titular main protagonist of Little Witch Academia. And I love “the heroic quest of the valiant prince ivandoe”, Akko came out in 2013, and ivandoe came out in 2017. Their names are taken from classic novels.
A few things that were blatantly incorrect: Max party size is 3, not 5. The World R.2 (from the G.U. games and Roots anime) relies on a mobile headset and some of the “news” clips from within the G.U. games talk about people playing the game out in public and its effects on society.
What I said was, that the manga (specifically Legend of the Twilight) took the liberty to increased the party size to five people. Though I did stammer and say more than five people so there I was wrong. But yes you are right the M2D did have full wireless capability before RX, so that was a detail I had forgotten when I made this.

I can't speak for the style Ghibli uses and I can't completely say this wasn't altered in some way to fit a book but I figured this is a production standard (at least for Bee Train) storyboard, albeit I'm sure it's photocopied.
I think if Walt Disney was still living he would've abandoned his older musical format and taken inspiration from Miyazaki long ago. Sad to think that Pixar's Planes or Soul is the Western equivalent of this film.
Dragon Ball, Digimon, Shaman King, Law of Ueki, there's so many 'feel good' adventure anime back then, now it's all about shooting energy ball and fan service
watched legend of the twilight back in the early 2000s on adult swim as a teen and i think thats why i could never get into swordart online... well besides the first season. still first season of sword art online hits those feels hard man. but i can thank or hate .hack for killing my want to see sword art since it basically just uplifted and ploped .hacks whole arc and idea andddd then copied to this day with its own twist. tho atleast sword art keeps the same ish people around.
Weird seeing the Cold War be mentioned in an anime like this but i think this is probably why i love this anime. Not to mention how great it is in general, the addition of the alternate history timeline in which the world takes place in was just the right hook for me.
okay so this game was effected by the deception and what i can remember is the main character was that guy with the one eye but he has 2 eyes and he was the first character and they locked him away in this coffin prision and they released him in the beginning of the game "last recode" and he was the first hero and become the villain in the last recode version and the guy that has the girl cloths on with the short white hair is the hero and the guy with the round red hat was the hero but turned villain. he was so powerful that they locked him up in that coffin and was kinda being controlled and could turn back to being Good but had superpowers and the real villains decided to take advantage of his power and turned him evil. the story was Perfect and now its NOT f me bro wtf kinda of alternate deceptive bs is this? xD
Thanks for the review! I remember having watched this more than a decade ago. I couldn't remember plot specifics but it seems to bring back a lot melancholic feelings.
seeing this video today and laughing at the "Which can never be done today, without more backlash against it." and looking at FF7 Remake. Ah...when we were naive. Good times.
As I understand Epitath OF twilight takes place before AI Buster, do haven't read Epitath of Twilight as it had just released by the time I was reading dot hack and sadly don't think an English version was released
I remember being like 12 and catching a random episode of .hack//sign and was INSTANTLY captivated! The music! The music!! But yeah...I tried looking into it online and was so fkn lost... I just....gave up... after watching this I would've REALLY gotten into it or would've been overwhelmed and give up. Wow crazy!
Just want to jump in about the weapon choices. Definitely agree that the use of swords is a bit too prominent for the franchise. The same problem happens for Second Light actually. While Ao (the protagonist) using a scythe is actually fitting to her character, there is no point for Shiho, Hinako, and Hiori to all use swords in the game, especially considering it is canonical in Ray that Reflectors can transform their weapons (e.g. Ruka can use a bow, Mio can use the chain thing). I think they really should have given Hiori a bow in Second Light (also as a shoutout to Ruka), and Shiho a weapon more suitable for a healer (maybe like a shrine maiden's staff). Hinako can probably keep her sword since that's what she used in the original game.
I liked the anime especially the adventure and the romance. It was fun seeing old Tokyo with the famous writers and scientists. The green hair guy was really cute and kind, his hair was beauitful. I like Kyouka too, he's grumpy but have a big heart; he reminds me of Kyo from Fruit basket 🥰The purple hair guy was funny and his story with Jane was tragic but had a nice ending. Mei was a charming heroine, she don't talk much but is always helping others and making them smile. This girl is also brave and polite. I had a fun time seeing her explore the old Tokyo. One thing who was dissapointing, the ending. Mei seriously leave a world where she; is respected and loved, have a home and a boyfriend AS well as friends to her world where she is bullied and has no parents? Her life is safer and happier in the past. Why would she return to the present if her situation is horrible? That made no sense! I wished she stayed with Ougai and her friends.
I never understood the constant balking at the term "PKK" that CCs always have when reviewing this franchise. It's not that hard of a concept. Hell, Eve has Countermeasures, Counter-Countermeasures, Counter-Support, Counter-Countersupport, Anti-Counter-Countersupport, etc. Dark Souls has Blue Phantoms/Sentinels and Darkmoon, which are PKK and PK hunters for vengeance (more of an after the fact thing), respectively.
