Hello sir, what string have you used for the chic strings? And what strings should be used in case of acoustic guitar? I am playing an acoustic guitar with chic-S-m-P-S-m configuration
Fast fret is the greatest guitar accessory of all time. Found out the ones on Amazon suck. Now after seeing your video, wow. Definitely going to a music store soon to see if they have any of the older ones.
All these videos are also done in one session, one take and everything is pure improvisation. It's easy to forget about that. Guthrie's so amazing it's ridiculous!❤
As far as Jeff's mastery of the whammy bar goes, I don't think he ever went further than Where Were You from Guitar Shop. Also fragile, feminine, melodic and just otherworldly beautiful.
I was lucky enough to see Frank in one of his last live performances (Wembley 1988) and his playing was unlike anything I'd heard before. He had his patterns to fall back on as all guitarists do, but his managament of making lyrical playing to a variety of time signatures was just amazing. Of course he was a musical dictator, comfortable in knowing that his band was right where he wanted them to be, but he was never clinical. Viva Zappa
Hi! Im alos an indian classical guitarist like (begginer). I really like your videos. I had a question though. So at the beggining you were talking about a drone beat? Like you said that it was the tonal center or something. So I was wondering if you tuned your guitar differently or something, because when I tried playing the drone beat, it didnt sound the same as yours. So caqn u explain what note the drone beat is? Thanks so much!
Loved Frank; Had all Adrien Below's albums. Sad dead center 2nd row at a Zappa concert in Milwaukee in the early 70s. He did his own sound checks - it never got too loud.
I saw Jeff in the Yardbirds in 1965 and that was the beginning of a lifelong fascination with him and his incredible playing. I saw him on a number of occasions over the years, with The Jeff Group (where I played in a band that supported them), BBA and other various lineups. It was such a shock when he passed; I thought he'd be in my life forever, for some reason. But he actually is - I still enjoy his music and it continues to influence my playing. I wish I could make a Strat sound like that! I play humbucker guitars because I don't like the glassiness/clangy essence of Strats - Jeff gets very non-Strat tones from them.
can't you shut the f...up and analyze at the end , just know you are not him and never will be close period , talking over him who you know f....................
I'm not sure we could find a guitarist this great in the next century. He shouldn't have given up his Suhr guitar, as it has significantly altered his playing style. By the way, where have you guys been? This video has been out for over a decade..lol.. but I'm so thankful someone's just made a video about Guthrie again!
Really good!! If you can make a separate ones that goes over how to make your own taan and raag Vistar that will be wonderful and will be useful for other musicians students who does not play Guiter.
@khabib1 hello and thanks for watching. There are many lessons on all these elements of the music on my channel. The concepts and techniques are fully explored in my Indian Classical Guitar Academy courses. You can see many sample lessons and demonstrations in this playlist, as well as across the history of this channel. Thanks for watching. ru-vid.com/group/PLFAAZc23bSnGLJlIf2NaCpSJCDyvC1UXm&si=ajvPzkg-pjG4Gjjg
The thing with John McLaughlin is that he is also a spiritual badass..😎👍☀️ That also reflects in his playing..that he is probably super intelligent..🙏😏
Im a drummer since 20 years.. i recently started to play Tabla again.. its fascinating what they created with their hands and hearts.. Indian music is really versatile and virtuous.. Its so amazing..🙏😏✌️
I have my strat bridge set up the same as Jeff's, 2 springs only and if you pull back or up on the whammy bar you need to achieve a tone and a half on th 'G' string....so open G pull back to achieve A#.
Jeff's playing first came to my attention in 1966 when I was only 13 and he blew me away completely. Have followed his career ever since and have been lucky to have seen him on several occassions. For me he is the only guitarist and his passing broke my heart, being a guitarist myself, when ever my playing get's in a rut I put on some of Jeff's music and I am inspired to pick up the guitar and try harder. Sadly there will never be another Jeff Beck but it's great to see you people who play guitar listening to Jeff and hopefully being inspired to pull sounds out of the guitar like Jeff did.
@ShredSumit thank you so listening. That comparison dose seem to be coming up more recently. I might make a video about why that similarly has developed.
Me. A professional musician for many decades. I recorded a more mainstream album with B Cobham for CTI but not as leader. Anyway. For decades I’ve been asserting that Blues and Indian raga have a connection. Even if only that both are rooted in the spiritual. In a book about plants reactions to music Indian and Bach were “liked “ best by the plants. Rock not so much HENDRIX is a blues man to me. Though some would disagree And Coltrane who I saw in person was a deep blues man Thank you for your ideas
