Thank you for your amazing. I have always been a strict one world flyer but looking at your video... I may well consider SQ! Thank you for the amazing video!
Thanks for watching! Yes typically me too I usually align with OneWorld for points and sometimes benefits 😂. Yes, certainly if the price is right might be worthit to consider SQ. In this route it was cheaper than the Oneworld (Qantas) airline so it was easy to select Singapore Airlines on this occasion.
Well done trip mate and by the way my aunt always prefers this routing SQ216/910 or SQ224/916 over Philippine Airlines which Chinese Australians if they can speak either Mandarin🇲🇾🇨🇳🇹🇼🇸🇬 or Cantonese🇭🇰 spell out as 菲律賓航空 PR223/224. For the flights I mentioned SQ216/910 & SQ224 with 7hr wait for SQ918 they are actually timed for combining passengers from the New York City flights SQ23/25 JFK-SIN which meant this evening departure New York City JFK arrival in Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport lunch time which is what the New York City equivalent of night departure from PER on SQ216. The second one SQ21 the original world's longest flight combined with morning departure from Perth SQ224 with 7hr wait for SQ918 arrival in NAIA 11pm. Even though it's supposed to get you to Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport using SQ916. The one flight that requires you to overnight in Singapore from PER to Manila is SQ214 to SQ910 which is what my aunt living in Wellard did in December 2023
Thank you mate! Wow interesting to hear your aunt has this as her favourite! I haven't tried Philippine Airlines but maybe one day I'll see how it compares with SQ! 🙂
@thewindowseat77 you should try it mate however PR223/224 PER🇦🇺-MNL🇵🇭 suffers from the same issue as their Flagship New York City flight PR127/126 JFK🇺🇲-MNL🇵🇭 these are tight seats service hit or miss. Which is why I'm trying to avoid Philippine Airlines New York to Manila in favour of Singapore Airlines EWR-SIN-MNL departure from Newark Airport 9am arrive Singapore Changi SQ21 5pm and 7pm Depart Singapore for Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport on SQ918. If done correctly you would have ended up saving $800-1799 over PR127.
Great review mate, haven't flown out of Perth on SQ since when they had 777s and 330s on the route so certainly been a while. Still looks like a solid product offering by them though! Nice work filming on a relatively short overnight flight too always can be a bit tricky to fully capture those flights all in darkness. Hopefully this video gets you up to 1k subs not far away from it now!
Thanks for watching @AussieJetSetter! Wow that is indeed awhile since you have been onboard SQ - On a good day you can score Economy tickets that are not too far off Scoot pricing and cheaper than Qantas, hopefully next time to SG you might be able to get onboard and review it also 🙂. Yeah 100% agree, it is difficult to film in low light. I primarily use the recent Samung S23 which supposedly has one of the better low light cameras. Even so however, it still certainly still poses a challenge!
Saw airasia president at the next big tech asia. Why was she there, learning how to use AI to con malaysian customers. Karma, how can you sleep? COMPLY WITH MALAYSIAN LAW MR RICH BILLION ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5NwGROSCxXg.html
Loved the video! Well explained! Thanks for that! I am heading that way very soon so I am already doing my RU-vid research! 😁 Was just wondering if there is any alcoholic drinks on offer at this lounge? Didn't seem to see any on that fridge! 😋 Cheers
@Accioly72 Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!😁There is actually a 'Sports bar' area that serves a big range of alcohol many people miss (including myself and that's why it's not mentioned anywhere in this review). The Sports bar is near the entrance to the main lounge area on the left. You can see the specific entrance to the sports bar at 0:36 of this video on the left hand side. I've been told there is a big range of alcohol and you are free to take your drink into the main lounge area - you just have to order it from here. Hope it helps and hope you enjoy it very soon!
@@thewindowseat77 that's the problem with flying into Perth from the east..you come in through the back door and there's nothing really that interesting to see . Sometimes during the day they make the planes loop around a bit further so you can get a squiz of the city
The 737 should be outlawed from flying more than 3 hours. The 737 800 in particular is horrible, as it is usually configured with 12 business seats at the front with one washroom and then the remaining 160 passengers fighting over the other two washrooms at the back, with the single aisle usually blocked by the drinks cart.
I agree, some people even go as far as to go with the option to reserve the middle seat in economy so they can have a gap between themselves and the next passenger in the 3-3 configuration in Economy. The toilet issue indeed can't be solved as well as the drinks cart blocking access in the single aisle. The A330 or 787 would be much better for this route!
The Platinum/ First Class Lounge next door is more private and quiet, with fine dining served to the table. However, I notice the Business Class section has better choices of food.
We booked tickets direct from Perth to Gold Coast, Feb 25. (Jetstar). We just got info that our travel had changed. Now we are flying Perth to Cains with a stopover and then Cains to Gold Coast. If I had know this I would have booked Perth to Brisbane then bus down to Gold Coast. I wish now I had booked with Qantas
Ah thats terrible! It's always disappointing when airlines make substantial changes like this 😟. Perth to Brisbane on Qantas and then a bus to GC would indeed have been better...
I’m not sure how you can say it’s a great economy when you also say the entertainment system is sub par. It was also unusual that there were empty seats. I’ve NEVER flown on a flight from Perth that has not been full. I recently flew from Perth to Brisbane on a 737. Our plane had no inflight entertainment and no in seat power. We will be returning to Perth soon and have already been notified that the plane will have no inflight entertainment or wifi so I’m guessing it’s the same plane that brought us to Brisbane.
Ah thats terrible! Unfortunately Qantas isn't consistent with their 737s. Most do have inflight entertainment and free WiFI, however there are a few without these (I have been unfortunate to be on one of those too). Their inflight entertainment certainly does need upgrading which I have mentioned in numerous reviews. I do think they should be using at least some wide bodies for this longest route in Australia as normally the 737s get jam pack!
Done this flight a few times. The 787 seems to use about half the length of the runway and gets up and climbs rapidly. This vid seems to show a take off run of 28 seconds from throttles open to rotation. They are a great aircraft.
@@thewindowseat77 Ah, ok. I have done PER - MEL a couple of times in 12K. It is just unreal how as the engine spools up on start-up, everything seems to vibrate in resonance with it.
I would say maybe about 25% of the passengers are Japanese. Japan Airlines does fly this route also and I suspect most Japanese prefer to use their national airline when travelling between KL and Japan.
@@thewindowseat77Cheers brother, that’s the plan! 👍 Quick question asw, I booked the flight on the japan explorer pass fare, are you able to pick your seats at check-in? Cuz I’m unable to pick a seat atm with my fare.
Awesome! 😀 Unfortunately I didn't book using the explorer pass fare but through the regular JAL booking method. Using that I was able to select seats freely so maybe it is a quirk with using the explorer pass fare. Also if your flight is using Japan Airline's Touch and Go boarding system you actually won't need to check in/online check in before the flight. Seat selection is done using the Manage my Booking option and all you do on your flight day is scan your reservation barcode (again only if your flight is a touch and go enabled flight) through security and boarding. It seems like for whatever reason you can't even select a seat in Manage my booking so you might need to head to the JAL staff at the airport to sort out seating. That said I did have seat selection issues with JAL on a Business Class flight from Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur. This flight was not Touch and Go boarding enabled, and all window seats weren't available to be selected before the flight in the Business cabin (I heard these window seats are reserved only for higher tier Oneworld flyers to select first). The only way around if was wait for online check-in 24 hours before where all seats become 'unlocked' on a first come first serve basis. I wasn't very happy with this approach, but hey it goes to show JAL do restrict seat selection based on some conditions. I hope you can sort it out and get the seat you want!
Nice flight review. It’s crazy some of the big aircraft they fly domestically in Japan. I remember flying a 777 Between Itami and Narita with ANA and the whole process was typical Japanese efficiency!
Thanks for watching! Judging by the recent incidents I would agree they are a fantastic airline! I am flying with them in a few months so I can't wait!
It’s interesting - I was wondering whether your pre-ordered steak should have been served after departure or did you choose for it to be served as your breakfast accompaniment- nice video thanks
That is an excellent observation, one that I considered myself also at the time during the flight. I wasn't given a choice to select when the pre-ordered steak would be served (not that I recall anyways), however it's probable that due to the flight service beginning at around 1am, they chose to serve the popular lighter satay first with snacks/drinks before bed time and save the heavier meal for breakfast the next morning. The satay so I hear is particularly fast to run out (some flights are unfortunately unable to even offer them) so I was glad to receive this item first before anything else. Thanks for watching also! 🙂
I agree . I have spent so much time trying to get past Bo to a human. I was eventually successful but so frustrating to deal with. They rely upon the fact that they are cheap so just pay up and shut up seems to be the attitude. I also tried the local Australia "support" with no reply at all .... I'm just using credits from Covid so I have to use Air Asia X but after that ... I think I will just pay Malaysian Airlines , as we have done previously. Greta customer service. A lot less hassle ...
Thanks for watching! 🙂. I'm glad at least you have some credit left from Covid! I've heard from quite a few people who unfortunately lost their credits as they expired with no extension despite having extensive border closures in place at the time (essentially rendering the credits useless in the first place!). Sorry to also hear of your terrible experience with their customer support 😞. Malaysia Airlines in my recent experience has been fantastic! I haven't needed to contact their customer support though so I couldn't tell you if it's good or bad.
I’m a captain onboard Malaysia Airlines, thank you for flying with us and leaving a great feedback. Hope to see you onboard more often and we’ll continue to improve 🙏🏻❤️
That's awesome and thanks for watching 🙂! I will be back onboard on MAS later this year for some international and domestic flights - I certainly look forward to it!
The flight itself i'd say was about an 8/10. The cabin crew were very pleasant and I especially appreciated the cabin crew not hounding passengers with the inflight sales items during the flight - they let passengers sleep in comfort during the red eye flight (2am to 7am). I also had a checked in bag which was easy enough to drop off at the Baggage Drop counters before the flight. Remember to pre-book your baggage allowance at the time of booking your flight as it is the cheapest then. Buying baggage allowance later or at the airport will be more expensive!
