The only place there is a slight bit of rf from the balun on 15 to 6m. I haven't actually tested with a field strength meter. But my touch lamp will turn on at times txing on those bands. Move the lamp about a foot away and no issue.
That’s a great difference! The key is to get as high as possible and flat topped in my experience. I’m convinced that the doublet at high elevation is the best wire antenna. Having 2 makes it really nice. I’d say the nulls are deep on 20 and 15?
Absolutely correct on all your points. Flat top blows inverted vee away in my opinion. I remember watching Bob Heil video testing dipole elevation. He said once you hit the 50' mark, that's where everything changes.

@@JayN4GO I'll make a video of operation. I used the MFJ 993b 300w tuner with built in 4:1 balun. Since upgraded to the MFJ 998 1500w autotuner with an outboard 4:1 balun.

I just came across a TS-450S and have been learning about the optional DSP-100. Very nice early DSP processor. It's long out of production and seems to be made of unobtainium these days. I'm trying to learn about the radio interface otherwise as to the possibility of using it for an SDR/DSP connection. Looking at the radio diagram it looks like it would be fairly simple to build a converter for the transmit IF and the receive IF is in the capture range of a sound card. No idea how to switch it into that mode without the DSP-100 though.
