Hey man just did all the steps games load up fine and stuff but when i start playing games they like to crash.. do you know any fixes to that by chance?
just to confirm a couple of questions i have. 1 does this remove region lock from games?(let's say i wanted to play a Japanese PS2 game never released in the west) 2 does this allow th use for Well less official discs(let's say i burned the aftermentioned Japanese ISO with an english patched onto a disc?) 3 does the FreeMCBoot memory card have to be in the console the entire time or just for the duration of the boot(if it has to be in the console the entire time can it be in mem card slot 2?)
(1) I believe that you can bypass region restrictions with OPL, so yes (2) This doesn't change anything hardware wise. You would need a app called esr to allow the disc drive to read burned backups. Although this is limited to just games released on DVDs. (3) It only needs to be in for the initial boot/using apps, and should work in slot 2
Do you know if there is a file size limit on iso files? I wanna make a digital copy of champions of norrath disc and put it on my hard drive but ive ready everywhere that if using a usb formatted to fat32 theres a file size limit of 4gb and my game is 6gb, im going the internal hdd route with the network adapter and am trying to figure out if ill have the same issue and will need to use usbutil to seperate my file to make it compatible and playable from the hard drive or is the 4gb file size limit not relative here?
You will have that issue regardless of storage device as the max 4gb per file size is a limitation of the fat32 file structure. I'm not familiar with that game, if it uses two discs that make up the 6gb then you should be okay to just make a copy as each file should be under 4g. However if it's a single disc you may need to format the HDD as exfat and update opl to one that supports Exfat (can get it here) github.com/grimdoomer/Open-PS2-Loader/releases
@MCDNetwork it is one disc, and to my surprise is a larger file than the part 2 of the game (champions return to arms which is a 2gb game) and updating opl to read exfat hdd will fix that issue? BTW I seriously appreciate your response and assistance, I couldn't get this information ANYWHERE and have commented on different posts and you are the only one to respond so thankyou VERY much
@@MCDNetwork sorry to bug you with another question, when clicking on the link you provided, do I need to download the source code files as well or just the opl update file?
It depends on the type of motherboard yours has. Some of the early E revisions used a corona motherboard which is modable. However later models with the Winchester boards currently aren't able to be modded
so this video was soooo soooo helpfull, i have ark now on here... but how the heck do i find games? everyone says make an iso folder and i did that... do i make its own folder without putting it in anything? or am i just not looking for the games in the right place?
@@MCDNetwork thanks so much i will go watch it!! i really have no clue how to do any of this. The way you broke this down in this video helped me TONS already!
Great video! Do you have a good method for playing ps1 games through an internal HDD (or this device?) on a fat ps2? (and not through the slow USB 1.1 port). I have a hdd formatted for PS2 games but can't seem to figure out how to get ps1 games to boot from it with Free McBoot
This guide is on Trinity motherboards (why it's not in the tutorial as they don't require a post fix) if your model requires a post fix adapter it will still need one for RGH 3
Don't know if you know these things well, but I have my o.g. 1.6 that won't turn on. Had caps that were bulging, so I replaced them and still nothing. Got a backup power supply to just make sure, and still nothing. Any idea what else to check?
After almost 20 years my Original Xbox been having this power issue i turn it on then it shortly turn off. If press the buttons serval times it stay on. Im sure mine is having this issue. It was made in September 2005
@@MCDNetwork i found few part numbers for the power caps. So ill replace those seems like common Problem. After 20 years held up well though. I keep it real nice have the box and packaging and manuals all that good stuff.
Hello, Mine does not go back to the twilight menu when quit a game with, it shows there is no SD card inserted, please insert the sd card contains the twillight menu++ then try again, any idea ?
I’ve loved this game since childhood and just reconnected with it Beyond belief that there’s no one who’s heard of it and also absolutely astonished that you guys are the only documented case of pvp happening LMAO Or at least I haven’t seen anything
It worked for me but the channel banners are completely blank and show a black screen and there is no sound accompanied with the spinning disc. Is there any way to fix this?
i have one of these from 2016 and it has a timebomb. Im assuming the reason i cant use it is because of that, so im wondering if i can remove the timebomb after its been set?
