Am I glad I came across your video! I have the same exact boat and 40hp engine. I was searching like crazy for someone with the smart tabs on a super guide. Did you notice a difference? I was hesitating because i didnt know where to place the tabs or if they'd interfere with the trailer bunks. Great boat!!!!
At 48 I’m just now getting into fishing and this boat is the one I’ve been looking at for obvious reasons ($) but if I had plenty this is EXACTLY how my personality would set up a boat. I love things at my fingertips and having the right tool for the job. Excellent video sir. Thank you for sharing your boat.
I fished the Santee lakes for 15 years when I was living in Moncks Corner...at the beginning of the video I know exactly where you was at..its close to my 70 to 90lb catfish spot....use to catch them all the time....but you gotta have a while lot heavier tackle...and live mullet...but its a workout !!!!
I know about stink baits for channels.... but if you went fishing after just channel catfish what part of the chicken besides the liver would you use ? If you don't mind me asking, I was thinking the skin might be best
I believe this boat only has two battery spots. Are you running a starter battery and two deep cycles? If so, where did you place the 3rd battery? Thank you
This is exactly why I never leave my boat on the bank overnight. I fish Lake Moultrie almost every day in the spring and summer and I’ve been in situations where it has gone from completely flat to 3+ foot waves in a matter of seconds. More than once. The weather here is unpredictable.
Decades ago I went with a Friend to Santee, all the way across Moultrie in a 16ft boat it was nice, then the Winds got up to 40 real quick and large white caps, so we headed toward the Canal and Blacks camp. Marion lake was being hit with 6 inchs of Rain when we got to the opening of the Canal the canal was flowing hard and the wind was blowing up the canal making 6 to 8 foot waves due to the current undercutting the waves, we rode waves like a surf board and prayed the whole time, I usually fish the upper or canal now.
I fish BnM silver cat elite love the rods. Only problem i have is dang near impossible to keep reel tight. I finally put some loctite on threads. Reels stay tight
If it's like bass fishing, they get the boat at very cheap rates from their sponsor. Then when the season ends they sell it for what they can, pay their sponsor the agreed upon price. Anything over that, is their to keep.
The Piscifun Chaos XS 50 is one of the best reels I have ever had the pleasure to own. It is the smoothest reel I have ever seen. I have some Abu Garcia Ambassadeurs but this reel beats them hands down.
They are impressive but I have a friend who has one but they are definitely not for bad weather or large waves. I went with him and we took alot of water in the boat In bad weather. I have seen a few sunk ,while docked in bad weather with large waves. It does take huge waves very well while under power across the lake.
I can't tell if that's a drop off you're dragging in to or a hump of sorts you're dragging up on. I'd love to see a video pointing out specific terrain features to target. Had a terribly slow weekend at Santee (9/29-10/1) . Fished the upper lake (Marion) near the dam, fished the canal. & open water on Moultrie. Targeted drop offs into the channel(s), fished along humps, even tried shallow. Worse weekend fishing I've had. Got one small (6 lb.) Flathead and a channel cat. Just couldn't find 'em.
Its been slow for me also the past few trips . What I think is happening is the transition to cooler temperatures and there all spread out. If you keep fishing shallow they will show up. Thanks for watching brother.
@@Jims_catfishing Thanks for the response. I was wondering about “Fall transition”. Also wondering about the full moon. I told my buddy after the trip we tried everything I knew to try EXCEPT really shallow. I live in western NC and only get down there a few times a year. In recent years I’ve spent my time in upper Marion (Stumphole) But this year I focused on catfish & I’m just learning the area around the Canal. This trip the fishing was great but the catching was a big disappointment!
