Fantastic stuff, a definitive erotic anthem with a lusty break...."She shook her shoulders around so free, she even danced on the ground with me....' wow!!! once again please...
First heard this record when I was 11 or 12, and immediately fell in love with it. The '60s pop influence really shines through on this cut. They did such an amazing job of hiding pop hooks within their shambolic sound. Salvation Army was another great group that lay perfectly at the crossroads between the two genres. Like the Plugz, they eventually veered into the pop lane for good when they became the Three o'Clock - and don't get me wrong, I love their later stuff too, just as I love the second Plugz record. But the fact that both bands only did one true punk record each makes those albums even more special, I think.
i don't think you can get more orange county than this. the mix of the two cultures was inevitable in the 90s. skating cholos and punks dressed like they are walking the yarda. LOL
This was the first recorded, I think, but definitely, publisized version of the classic, even, before the movie, and shame on Carlos Santana and Luis Valdez to not include this version as an homage, at least in the credits that strikes me as elitists and our peeps don't need that from our peeps. I love Carlos, but, I remember how demeaning he treated Los Lobos in the publicity reel for La Bamba. And I know Los Lobos, heroes of mine, remember.
This cover is _so_ f**king on point! Sounds just like the original. Like, if I just heard this walking by and just ignored the lyrics, I'd think it was _actually_ Rancid!
