Pull up a chair to the happy hour you wish your friends were having. Mix two money experts with some hot takes and a splash of nostalgia, and you get Rachel Cruze and George Kamel talking unfiltered about what’s going on in the world, pop culture, and how to afford a life you love.
Good alternative to the office space for those who have the space to put it and the money, put a small shed in your back yard and just finish it out with electric, insulation, and some small heating/cooling unit. I know people who have turn a 40x16 shed into a house with bathroom, kitchen, etc. for less than 40k. A small office requires less, so the cost would be less.
This is absolutely reasonable. I think everyone would agree that if me and a friend decide to swap PS games we already played, this would not be a budget decision and it would not go into the budget. Similarly, if she went to the shop and changed the shoes for a different model, of course it would not go into the budget. I do not see anything different in this case: she is just exchanging the shoes for a different good in a different shop.
Hi, I have two questions about credit cards. 1-I live in Ireland, and in Europe is very complicated to rent a card without a credit car. I have one solely to rent cars when I go on holiday. 2-What is your opinion on Latin American way of using credit cards? They have installments in almost everything and they with 0% in your interest. I only use debit card. But over there they get several benefits and "discounts" for using credit cards. People have 5 or 6 different cards to avail of all the different discounts with the different cards.
Hi, can you do an episode talking about language used to market debt? You occasionally touch on the topic, but would love a full discussion on it and the psychology of it all.
If the girlfriend is unwilling to sign the prenup, that raises red flags about her more than anything. If anything, a prenup ensures fairness and prevents spouses from taking advantage of each other.
I am currently in Hawaii!!Just moved 3 days ago From Florida for contract therapy work at Maui Medical Center.. yes it is pricey here but I have a rigid budget I am going to try my best to follow! I 'll be here for 3 months. ! Will see how it goes!
1980's or 90's. We had no money, even if we managed to have an entry level job, which was hard to get then as it is now. We were young that was our only advantage. The folks in charge to emulate were at least 45 y/o and worked like crazy and/or got very lucky and married lucky as well. They did Dave Ramsey or something similar
Damn I did this for my step brother and it was such a bad idea.. I had to constantly chase him to pay the motorcycle and it took him 5 years to pay it and for it to drop off my credit. Don’t do it. Say NO
8:43 why I choose not to combine all finances is simply because I don’t want to think at all about what my partner buys, so long as there’s no debt. We have a shared bank account, but we each have our own discretionary income as well. There’s no issue that way! We each contribute in proportion to our income, and allocate separate accounts for whatever. I don’t see the problem with it. I also have no problem with doing it Ramsey’s way! Funny people get mad about it though. Not worth getting mad for that.
I know someone who takes holidays by housesitting for people. He’ll go interstate too. He is in his 20’s and has been single for most of that decade. Not sure if he’ll continue it once partnered or a dad.
Northwest Arkansas is the best!! Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville flow one into the other with a combined population of around 600K and growing. All the advantages of the "big" city offerings but plenty of small-town areas within easy driving distance.
When the kids are little, I have them give 10% to tithing and 10% to savings. Once they start to make real money like at their first job, then I talk to them about how they’re gonna want that money when they’re older and in college and need money for food and how they don’t actually need it now and then they decide how much they’d like to put into savings. I think if they don’t get to ever see the money that they work for or that’s given to him, I think that that Can lead them to not have a healthy feeling about spending money.
The biggest thing I disagree with you guys on is credit card usage. I put every single expense on my CC every month...utilities, etc. It's a great way to track my spending and means I only have one bill to pay each month. And, yes, I get cash back on everything I spend. Sorry, not sorry.
When Covid happened our university kicked us out of the dorms but going home wasn’t an option because of science labs. At 18 with no credit we got a co-signer for an apartment and have literally never missed a payment. Not all co-signing situations are bad or in your control…
The problem is those costs are a small fraction of what taxes pay for. In 2023 the US federal budget was $6.13 billion. Very little of that went to libraries and public transportation.
A few thoughts. Love the program. I got into scary debt years ago and started living differently. It was tough at first. the first time I heard Dave on the radio, I was already doing the steps. It took longer than a couple of years to get out of debt, but so worth it. Separate finances offer no protection in a divorce. Of course, eating out is much more expensive than eating at home, always has been.
Renting is too expensive and jobs are paying too low. Let people use the help they have without hating themselves for it. I’m 23 and my parents pay for my car, phone, and insurance. If I had to pay that on my own I would have failed out of school and would be stuck much longer living paycheck to paycheck.
