I absolutely love all of your videos. I was born at a Thibodaux hospital in August of 1949 but we lived in Galliano. I married in late 1969 and lived in a rent house in Golden Meadow for 4 1/2 years. We built our house in 1973, in Galliano. We are still here 51 years later! Raised 3 kids here but sadly not one remained here 😢. Thibodaux, North Shore, California. Adult grandchildren in Terrebonne Parish. But us? Right here in south Lafourche

I grew up here. My dad was a child when that double hanging happened. He said it was like a festival. Or maybe a tailgate party today. Thousands gathered outside the jail. People were selling food and souvenirs. People were picnicking. Everyone was having fun. The inmates were able to be seen at the top cupola before they were dropped to their deaths at the end of those ropes. It sounds like a totally morbid and disturbing day.

Demand for specialty stationary dried up. That's what the papermill made. Acoustic panels used to be made out of the bagasse, and glue factory next door. The glue factory is now a specialty chemical company, mostly for toll manufacturing and drying of chemicals for major companies.

From a newspaper article in 2011: "Following a dive in April [2011], Gelé and a team of private, underwater archeologists he hired brought up artifacts from the site, including four roofing tiles made in Marseilles, France, sometime between the 1800s and the turn of the century. Another artifact he found was a curved clay pottery piece or possibly a sewer tile, Gelé said." Hardly evidence of an "ancient civilization." And why did the granite have to come from down the Mississippi? Why couldn't it have been brought from Europe and across the Atlantic, as, for example ship's ballast?
@LouisianaDread
@LouisianaDread 9 дней назад
It could’ve been brought from Europe but why can’t it be the alternative?
@denisgaubert7157
@denisgaubert7157 7 дней назад
@@LouisianaDread What is more likely -- primitive peoples' rafting lots of heavy stones down the Mississippi to dump offshore or 1700s-1800s ships just dumping ballast to get over shallow reefs? A simple solution would be to scientifically test the stones' chemical and morphological characteristics and compare them to similar stones with known geologic origin. It's what they did at Stonehenge.
