Always enjoyed how this rendition/arrangement by Mr. Hobbs was played - still do!

Probably one of the best renditions of Dixie you will ever hear from a band. Sadly, the band is no longer allowed to play it, truly a loss of history and culture.

RIP Bob. I learned about this great man from my parents. They would go and listen to him play and since I loved music (as a 17 year old) I would tag along. I was fortunate enough to be there when they recorded the album at Kings Plaza. I saw him when they played with Stan Kenton and still love listening to his rendition of Stella by Starlight. Beautiful music by a wonderful man.

R.I.P. Bob. Spoke with his wife, Angie several months ago and was shocked and saddened to hear of his death. My husband (who I lost a little over a year ago) and I accidentally discovered Bob at a club in downtown Chicago. From that night on, we followed him wherever he was appearing and in 1995, Bob and his orchestra played at our daughter's wedding. We miss you, Bob, but I know my husband is still listening and enjoying your unbelievable talent.

RIP Bob. I just searched this, and found out the news. Such a great man, and great trumpet player. My dad played drums on this whole album also. I met Bob when i was 12, and he had a great sense of humor. This album is amazing. My condolences to his wife Angie,Deanna,Bob jr, and all his grandchildren. Jay from Toronto,On,Canada.

I played in Bob's band for many years, and talked with him about a year ago. He disbanded due to some health problems, but I think mainly because it was such a grind keeping a band together and playing gigs that never paid much. Lots of great memories though. Check out the horn section on one of Sonia Dada's albums from 1999 or so. That was the Bob Perna horn section.

Thanks Dustin! The band gets a lot of requests for Glenn Miller and for Ballroom Dancing but we do other stuff too, playing a lot of pro charts and sounding good. You would enjoy the band for sure.
