I run a B2B Lead Generation agency that specializes in cold email and helping B2B companies ranging from marketing agencies to financial services to logistic companies and everything in between.
I've sent over 1M+ cold emails and have booked HUNDREDS of sales calls for myself and my clients.
My goal with this channel is to be the go-to resource when it comes to lead generation, cold email and cold outreach.
If you need help or have questions, DM on LinkedIn (@gavin-lataille)
@@gavin_lataille yo Gavin, are you open to do mentorship? I just closed 2 clients for my lead gen offer. with my email campaign. And I'm planning to invest down the line when I save enough funds - by Jan 2025 to be exact. Lemme know if you're open to it mate.
Thanks for this information, Gavin. Do you see it as a deliverability issue (or other kind of issue) if we integrate Amazon SES with SmartLead? With Outlook we have to pay an initial investment of over $800 for 40 email accounts (for the first year). Gsuite is even more expensive.
I've never used Thunderbird before so I can't really share if it works or not. I would just recommend sticking with Google and Microsoft as you'll have the best deliverability from those 2 providers.
Smartlead does have subsequences but we've seen better results by manually following up with interested prospects rather then putting them into an automated subsequence.
Thanks! Can you clarify what the 100 email limit per campaign means? If I have three steps in a campaign, does it mean each step (first, second, and so on) can send 100 emails each? Or does the first step send 100 emails, and only when no new leads are left does the second step start sending?
If they respond positively to the Loom request, what copy do you put in the next email with the Loom link and picture and next CTA to book a discovery call?
Yeah exactly like that. Just send them over the Loom video and ask for a call as well in the same email. If you want you could also add in a case study or free value if it would be relevant.
@@gavin_lataille is it better to include a Calendly link in that reply with the loom, or better to say ‘let me know if you have any questions and if you want to discuss further’?
@@GetHighPerformanceHealth I would do both. Ask if they have any further questions and include your calendar link so that they can book a call with you.
@@GetHighPerformanceHealth Interesting idea. I can work on a video running through a template of the custom proposal that we use in one of the next few videos. Appreciate the idea!

Great value, appreciate it! The consensus in the industry seems to be that burning domains / accounts over time is inevitable. Is that your experience, even being more conservative than most with your infrastructure with 1 domain per 2 accounts and up to only 25 daily emails each (also considering every possible best practice, like validating emails, using variables and spintaxes, etc?) If so, in your experience how long, on average, does it take to get blacklisted doing everything right to a tee?
Yeah your domains and email accounts will eventually get burned over time and there's nothing you can really do about it. Yeah even being more conservative they will still essentially burn. To be honest I don't have an exact timeframe and haven't really tracked how long it takes but I do not that it varies and is sometimes random
Great video! Was looking exactly for this subject on your channel, thanks for sharing! I saw the calendar link, and remembered that in a previous video you mentioned pasting the full link to show the domain vs. a hyperlink, like for Loom and Calendly, to increase trust. It was the first time I saw this and it makes sense nowadays with distrust at an all time high. Did you split tested this or just noticed better CTR when using the full link on the day-to-day? Also, I saw a video suggesting to embed the Loom video gif showing the prospect's website and your face to increase trust. What's your take on this? Thanks again!
Glad it was valuable. We just noticed better CTR when using the full link as opposed to hyper linking it. However, I wouldn't use the full link if it is messy, for example: calendly.com/seekdigital_/check-in-callpreview_source=et_card&month=2024-06 --> calendly.com/seekdigital_/check-in-call/ (cut off all of the garbage at the end) Yes, absolutely embed a Loom video in the email so that it shows the gif thumbnail. Definitely gets more views when you do this as opposed to just sending a link to the video. Just make sure to tell the prospect to click on the thumbnail in order to watch the video.
Hey Gavin, Thanks again, you've got the best cold emailing content on RU-vid, by far! A few questions, though: 1. The consensus out there is up to 3 accounts per domain and ~35 real emails per account. Can you share some insights on why your approach is more conservative with 2 and 25, respectively? 2. With Google and Microsoft cracking down on spam hard, how do you approach CTAs asking for a quick call, from the 2nd email onwards, with a Calendly link? i.e. "Are you free tomorrow morning or Friday afternoon do get into more detail? If not, grab a time in our calendar by clicking here.". Are links absolutely a no go before replies nowadays? 3. Most flows out there contain 4 emails. It's the first time I saw only 3 being recommended. Is there any specific reason for it?
1. Yeah you can run 3 accounts per domain, the reason we don't is because if a domain gets burned then we are losing 3 accounts as opposed to only 2. We only send 25 real emails per day because we've noticed that our accounts get burned a lot quicker when we're sending 35 per day. So just setup more accounts and spread out your volume. 2. Yes links are an absolute no go in emails now. We never send any links in any of the emails we send out, not even your calendar link. We also never use a hard CTA directly asking for a call from our emails as it does not perform well anymore. Make it a soft CTA - "would you like some more info" or lead with value - "loom video or free work or lead magnet" 3. The majority of your replies are going to come from the first 2 emails in your sequence. So it is best to just contact new leads instead of sending follow ups that are going to get less and less replies. Also, the longer your email sequence, the more likely you are to piss off prospects. The shorter the better. Hope this helps!
Just found your channel and subscribed! Thanks for sharing the knowledge! About the infrastructure costs, wouldn't you also include the domains? In general, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't the consensus ~50 daily emails per account and ~150 per domain -- so 1 domain for every 3 accounts?
Thanks for the sub! Yes you could also include the domains in the infrastructure costs but they are just a one time fee as opposed to the email accounts which are monthly fees. We only setup 2 accounts per domain so if that domain ever gets burned we are only losing 2 accounts vs. 3. But I have heard of people who run 3 accounts on one domain with no issue. But yes, the 50 daily emails per account is what we do as well (25 cold emails and 25 warm up emails)
I'm not sure about namecheap, we've only ever used PorkBun and GoDaddy for our domains. Yeah normally we do 10 domains per Google or Microsoft admin panel. You can also buy 10 domains and setup 5 on Google and 5 on Microsoft to diversify your risk and where you're sending emails from.
I know you can add images and links within your campaigns on SmartLead but I'm not sure about pdf attachments. Either way, I wouldn't recommend sending any pdf attachments as you're going to ruin your deliverability and just land in spam. It's best to send over the pdf to a prospect after they've given you a positive reply to your first cold email. Position your CTA to ask the prsopect if they would like to see the pdf.
Thanks for the video, Gavin! Ton of great, to the point, info! I was wondering how do you handle clients accounts with the "white label" features. Can you categorize or tag your own leads, email accounts and campaigns for your company and for each client so you have everything organized?
No problem! We handle it differently for each of our clients but I know there is an option on SL to pay like $30 / month to give your clients white label access to SL so they can go in and view their campaigns. But beyond that, yes - you can label each email account to each of your clients and setup folders in the campaign section for each of your clients so you can stay organized that way.
@@gavin_lataille Ok, thanks! Regarding spintaxes, do you recommend going above and beyond the Headline and greeting to avoid spam even more? For example, using spintaxes 3-5 times throughout the copy for common terms and expressions so each email is even more unique. Do you think it would make a difference?
@@caldasnake16 yeah I would recommend to start implementing spintax into the body of your email along with your headline, greetings and subject lines especially since deliverability is becoming harder and harder. Making each email you send out unique by using spintax is definitely worth it as it's not going to make your deliverability worse.
Yes the follow up emails are included the 11k total emails that we send each month. We usually contact 3500 new leads each month in a 3-step email sequence.
@@emmanueladeyemo8526 Appreciate it man. The best lead scraping tool for a beginner is either Apollo, ListKit or SalesNav so I would see which is most cost effective for you.
Hey Gav, what’s the best number to set on smartlead for ‘number of new leads contacted per day for total campaign’??? - I have 15 email domain. Working off basis of 25 emails per email, is 375 good number?
@@GetHighPerformanceHealth that number doesn't really matter. It all depends on how quickly you are looking to contact new leads and go through your lead list. The higher the number, the quicker you will go through your lead list.
Good video tutorial Gavin. Q: What email platform should one use (Gmail / Outlook)? Should you avoid using your company domain account (perhaps create a gmail burner)?
Thanks! I would recommend using both Gmail and Outlook for your email accounts to mitigate your risk just in case one cracks down on deliverability more. And yes I would 100% recommend avoid using your company domain for cold email in case it gets burned and all of your emails start to land in spam. Don't use @gmail.com accounts for cold email. Buy a separate domain to use specifically for your cold emails and forward it to your main domain / website. Let me know if you have any other questions that I can answer for you
So, how much is the max number of sent email daily from each email? Many experts recommend to send up to 25-30, and some even say that 15 is the max. Also, after warming up the accounts, you should keep warming your emails addresses, so if you are warming them you should set the max number including the warming emails sent from each email inbox ?
@@gavin_lataille After the initial 2 week warm up period is over and you slowly ramp up real emails daily until 50 per account, can you allocate all 50 emails for real emails (considering above 97% reputation)? Or you recommend always having a % set to warm up indefinitely?
