as a server i just grab drink orders and then when i come back i do food orders as i drop off the drinks. its just my system cuz after i take the drink order it gives me a min or two to check on my other 4-5 tables and so when i get drinks to the table i can take the food order right then and there without forgetting anything for the table.

Makes me think of those folks who waited in line and once they are at the front then they look up at the menu. No! Get out of line, go back and try again. Decision time is over, not only should you know what you want by the time you're at the register, you should have your backup order ready to go in case they are out of your first choice. It burns me up inside every time I see it happen.

Server for 10 years. Ya a lot of times when the server just does drinks is cause the we getting triple sat in the background, a steak was over cooked so someone is screaming about it, or a multitude of other things going on. Sometimes just taking the drink order saves you so much time if you have to catch up with your 8 other tables tbh It’s nice to get the drink order and food order at the same time but also you are literally not the only table; usually it’s like 8-10 other tables that are balancing too so it’s nice to just get a quick water order so you can attend to the other needy tables tbh
There was a point in my life I'd consider myself a conservative, but knowing what kind person I'd have to be today in order to tick every requirement of that box would require me to be someone so apart from myself. I just take things issue-by-issue now. Having the freedom to change my mind and feel safe within a place of curiosity is so empowering.
Salad 5 min after apps, entree 15 min after salad. Drinks immediate and often. Paper menus can look nicer. If it’s a shitty menu, I don’t care if it’s digital, but a nice leather bound paper menu is appreciated.
L take on menus. I don't want to use my phone. I don't want to download your app or scan your QR code. I want a physical object that I can hold in my hands with the food your restaurant offers.
What a brain dead take. Scan menus are cheap and nasty, and indicate the restaurant is barely a cut above McDonald’s. If I see a scan menu, it’s a good sign to not order too much
I don't know about that one destiny. I kinda like paper menus more as well. I also don't scan with phones anything. I would have to ask someone there to scan it for me which is also kinda cringe.
