Not sure what this award is. As a total stranger to Cheng Yi's entertainment world, however, based on the very limited information I have acquired for the past several months since I have known of Cheng Yi, I am not surprised. He may be too unconventional in his entertainment circle. He doesn't seem to rub shoulders with them, especially the"elite". He doesn't appear to be part of the old-boy network. It seems to me (from the limited information I have access to) that "background" (old-boy network) appears to be very important in his entertainment world. Furthermore, my guess is that his enormous popularity with the viewers may also not sit well with some film/drama "experts" in his entertainment world. Cheng Yi's performance is always a rare treat to watch. He seems to be not just a truly good and highly dedicated actor who appears to be always in pursuit of excellence in his performance, but also seems to be a creative artist. As someone who knows nothing about any drama series or films in his world, it's a miracle totally by chance that I have discovered such a superb actor and creative artist via mysterious lotus casebook.
