I thought a national museum was supposed to be free . Typical Manc moneygrab in that they let Manchester Council Tax Payers in for free . The self appointed Capital of Football the only natural home for a National Football Museum would be Sheffield.
The pub was the Victoria & Comet - further along on the right, known locally, at the time, as the spit & vomit. The interior shots were done very early on a Sunday morning with free drinks for locals. The film shows a small stage inside which was a prop - the Vic & Comet never had a stage, just a huge horseshoe shaped bar, frequented by safe-breakers, thieves and various low lifes with an atmosphere to match. A small guy, wearing a trilby, sold the Evening Chronicle outside the spinning door.
Although I liked the concept of his show Jim’l fix it, as a kid I never liked him, thought he was creepy and bizarre, can remember watching him on Top of the Pops and my Mum saying he’s too old to be doing that show it’s for teenagers, and commenting on how inappropriate he was to the young girls in the audience, so if my Mum could see it through a television screen, how come nobody at the BBC could.
He’s not he’s still there, they just removed the headstone - you should get your facts right before publishing something with social implications to those families with relatives still there
Correct he hasn't been exhumed. The speculation about the concrete was a decision made as the 45 degree angle made the coffin too close to the surface. This decision was made by the funeral directors. He didn't pick that spot either, the family did. His only request was the 45 degree angle. His choice was another cemetery in Scarborough but it was closed to new graves. These ridiculous stories never stop!
Woodlands is a beautiful cemetery with stunning views of the sea. My mother is buried here and it sickens me to think that Saville ended up here. I sincerely hope he has been removed from such a pretty resting place. He doesn't deserve to be buried anyway. He should have been thrown into a cess pit.
The West Indies played England there on Aug 26 1976. I remember it for 2 good reasons: 1) I have never seen anyone bowl as fast as Michael Holding did and 2) my appendix burst halfway through the game. Just a year later I played there in the Yorkshire League.
Need to visit again as redevelopment work has happened at the back of the Stacey-West stand (named after the two fans who died in the Bradford fire). I'm sure if you contacted the club they would find someone and arrange an internal tour.
As an Aussie I remember walking down that road behind the long grandstand and watching Lincoln City beat Rotherham (hope I got the team name right) 1-0 in 1999, supporters of each club were let out at opposite ends because of the threat of violence. Lincoln is a nice city.
I've always been surprised that we didnt get these kind of stories come to light about Benny Hill. Now there is someone I couldn't watch as a child. He turned my stomach.
He hasn't been exhumed. Nobody wants to pay the estimated £20,000 cost. The Trust set up in his name, which is reponsible for setting up a compensation scheme for victims using funds from his estate, refused to pay for it, stating the money would be better spent going to his victims. The same Trust also tried to block a victim compensation scheme through the courts. Have to wonder who these cunts are.
I feel sorry for the person who made & engraved the tombstone; probably spent ages on it, lot've work making that giant headstone, perhaps telling their friends they were working on the memorial of a 'celebrity', only for it to get smashed up when the evil truth finally got made public [after BBC & Govt/Thatcher had covered it up for decades]
Thenewbold..i can assure you that "things" body IS NOT there.appently if "it" wasnty removed pronto."it" was going to be dug up & thrown into sea..fancy polluting the harbour...
Its in the middle of a City, the country side is miles away.... you were looking towards Peel Park and Bolton Road & Wrose which is definately not the countryside, not even close. Check it out on google maps.
