Wow a song about Christ the King would never be allowed today (2024). How sad it is how far our nation has fallen. We are no where near the country we were back in 1987. This was one of the best live renditions she ever did of that song.

Beautiful! Sandi's voice is unlike any other. We sang this hymn in Spanish at Iglesia El Calvario, Orlando, Florida, translated by our Music Minister & Choir Director Edith Rivera. Our 75 voice choir did a lovely rendition with ¡Ven Adorémos Al Rey!

Thanks to God, I was privileged to be at the concert 🎶 when I heard this song for the first time. Still brings me a deep feeling of great fullness to my heart.
I was at this concert back in those days at Carpenters Home Church - Sandy Patty truly had one of the greatest voices on earth - just amazing power and clarity to her voice!
Thank you for posting this! I totally missed the grammys that year and didn't even know her and First Call performed there. She was so young and pretty and in full voice that night! Interesting trivia is that she was pregnant with twins here. She also wore this same dress two months later at the 1987 Dove Awards in Nashville. I was blessed to be able to attend that ceremony since I lived there and was able to catch up with her that night and get a picture of her in that same dress. If you have never heard of her background singers here, First Call, you should check them out here on RU-vid. They were the best session singers you could ask for when recording, thus the name First Call, because they were the first ones you would call if you wanted the best vocalists for a recording project!
