I'm a minimalist but when it comes to fragrances I wish i could be happy with 8, two for each sesson. I have around 30 now and it's giving me anxiety 😂
Overal I spent like $500 on perfume since december./January . I spend money on perfume every month since then so I am trying to only buy 2 perfume in November and maybe one in December and then stop or I might just buy two. I am trying to cut back. My final goal is to stop adding to my collection by next year 2025 and only buy one more new one net year and use the ones I have
The blind-buy phase is over. Out of about 20 bottles I only liked 2 or 3. The last one was Mon Guerlain Intense and it was the first ever fragrance I bought when the word boring came to mind 😂. The magic number for me is 8.
Everything in moderation. Thank you for tackling this sticky unpleasant topic. A cold dose of reality is always good. Fear mongering is not healthy. Unfortunately that was exactly what I received from the video intro, fear mongering. Responsible shopping of any consumer goods is always the best approach. Not letting influencers manipulate us is key. Reflecting on why we overshop and overspend helps to curb when one is honest with themselves. Unplugging from social media and establishing a hobby helps curb shopping. Spending time with others, volunteering also helps. This messaging could have included more helpful tips, actions and efforts to break the cycle and addition. The fear mongering, utterly unnecessary and off putting.
I've used a lot up this year as my collection definitely got bigger than I intended from a subscription service (those 8ml decant vials). I have 22 bottles and travels left. I think I could be covered with about 8 or 9 of my fragrances. Loved watching this Claire ❤
I definitely have a large collection. I seem to gravitate more towards vintage perfumes, also Chanel and Serge Lutens are ones Im going for at the moment. Im not knee deep in gourmands although I really appreciate them. A capsule wardrobe sounds so lovely, but for myself I enjoy too many different fragrances ( and use them), so it wouldnt be doable for me. Ive stopped watching many reviewers though their next 'obsession' feels disingenuous and just a big thumbs up to endless and mindless over consumption. Im not inspired, Im horrified !. I want to truly get to know all of my fragrances and love them
Yes I’ve found since I’ve become more considered in my purchases I’ve definitely stopped watching a lot of videos, in particular creators who buy or are sent multiple bottles a week, it kind of hurts my soul a little plus as you say, there’s no chance to get to know any of them that well.
Thank God someone who doesn t like arabian perfumes...it makes two of us...I just don t get the craziness ...not worth the money..I would rather save and buy a nice perfume...I got two arabian fragrances because of the hype....never again...I threw them away because even spraying them at home or my car was not a good idea...repulsing...sorry but that s my experience....love your content!
Interesting video Claire - I was thinking last week that I would like to get my perfumes down to about a dozen bottles as I am only working 2 days a week now. That idea lasted about eight seconds when I saw a bottle of Chanel 1932 for sale on eBay for a good price, of course I snapped it up.😂
Hiya! How would you say the longevity of the Chocolate perfume is?? I personally need my perfumes to be beast mode 😭 - also have you tried any of their other perfumes? Thank you so much xx
Love fragrances and enjoy every one..I keep 3 for each season and don’t try any until one is finished ..one out one in..enjoy watching all perfume influencers and sometimes feel sorry to see all those bottles behind them and know most won’t be worn before turning
Aloha my friend ! I'm from Hawaii and I dislike summer/heat with a PASSION!!! I guess you always want what you don't have ! Right now I am loving Jany Sora Dora and Dulce Diablo Narcotica!🌺🌺🌺
Hey Claire how are you? Massive fan of the original here. I still haven’t tried this one or millisime iris. I really need to get round to it. So many on the “to sniff” list 😂Glad to hear your review on it. Thank you ☺️
Hi Claire, Shalimar girl here; I own pretty much every version from vintage to all the Millisime flankers. I had to blind buy the iris and this jasmine one as they have sold out before and then it's so hard to get them. I so appreciate your "nose", you are very precise and able to smell each nuance. For me, I never liked Souflle and honestly, I don't get neroli or orange blossom here. What I smell is the bergamot and citrus opening and the slightly sharp, fine women's soap notes and pretty heavy jasmine. I read that there are three different kinds of jasmine in this perfume which would seem to be where the slight spice, the soapiness and maybe the animalics could be coming from? I do get animalic but in the form of leather like Shalimar has, so I guess it could even be the iris or other note because I looked up the notes and see nothing similar to Shalimars animalic leather notes? I am not opposed to skank or "dirty underwear" in perfumes, lol, but I don't get that. I do agree that over time it softens to a musky vanilla sort of pale scent. Honestly, I am having a hard time feeling the OG DNA more than a teeny hint. If I was given this to smell and didn't know better, I probably would miss it, I'm embarrassed to say, seeing as how I have worn Shalimar for years and years. I think Jasmine Bonheur is better but it's not similar really, I just like it better as far as a jasmine perfume goes. This may grow on me. It is not a perfume that stays very long on my skin sadly or I'd wear it more. Millesime Iris is also one that I am not as in love with as I thought I would be, being an iris lover. Maybe it's a bit too gourmand for my taste? Thank you! Julia
I picked-up Shalimar Millisime last year and loved it. Hard to sniff this one (and love Jasmine perfumes) so I was just going to order a bottle. However, I believe they may have this one at the local Neiman-Marcus (about a half-hour drive) so I'll check it out first. Enjoyed the review. Cheers!
Superb impressions Claire. Haven't sampled it myself yet, but every Guerlain flanker is worth a sniff. 🤍 Kinda wish my worn underpants smelled like that tbh. 😆
Yes I have it and I like it on my skin it’s jasmine leather which I love them vanilla comes in but I domt get any citrus or soap thanks for your thiughts ❤
No, I'm tired of chasing after new releases, particularly Guerlain. I love the Guerlains I have, and I'm not searching after new ones. I'm swimming in 4160 Tuesday samples, though! :)
Very lovely overview, Claire. I enjoy listening to your fragrance chats as I put myself together for work in the mornings. Now I have learned of new scents to go and try out for myself - I have been seeking my signature scent for the better part of one year, with no luck. That "wine red" fragrance seems attractive and intimidating all at once!
I love autumn for many reasons, and my most used perfumes since the weather turned colder (minus today, as it was +15) are: Chanel no 5 EDT (i don't like edp as too sweet, and I used up my extrait), Cuir de Russie edp, Hermes Eau d'Hermes, Divine Divine extrait, and it might be time to pull out Bois des Iles extrait as well as Bianchi's Angel's Dust. I have also been re-testing Carons: Pois de senteur, Tabac blond, Fleur de Rocaille. Just like you, I have lost interest in trying anything new, it's temporarily, and I hope something will spike my interest soon. But so far I have been re-testing classics - Hermes Equipage and Bel Ami. Wanted to test Caleche edt, but no luck in stores, only the Soie de parfum flanker, which starts off rather nice, but then paper is not that informative. I am actually on my aldehyde train now, craving that bubbly champaign effect. Managed to test Le Labo Aldehyde 44 yesterday in Selfridges only to lose my paper strip an hour later.. And I was absolutely loving Lutens La Myrrhe last Friday!
I’ve been loving my No5 EDP. I need another trip to Paris to test some Carons plus the shop is exquisite. I do have a sample of the new Shalimar Millisime Jasmine coming so that’s something new I’m curious for.
I cannot decipher what the name is at 12:35 , what brand is it? Sorry my ears don't always work and thr sub titles don't show it either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. OK I got it, trnp ,I zoomed in on the screen. 😂
This is one of the reasons why I have followed your channel for so many years, you stay true to your taste and style, your content truly comes from your love for perfume and not from freebies from brands. Even if we have different taste in perfumes, I enjoy how you describe scents and make me want to test some of them just to broaden my own horizon perfumewise. Thank you and keep the videos coming! 🥰
Great video! Your cat is so cute 😻 I’m yet to try Embers n it’s current form. Since you gave me some advice on Teone’s work not too long ago I now have 10 of them - fell head over heels.
I've just had to spray a tiny bit of my sample of Fils de Joie on my wrist. It is so glorious! I definitely get rose too. Jammy, grapey, rose and jasmine ❤
Hey Claire isn’t it great being able to get all the autumn winter frags out! I love Bengale Rogue and also Dryad from Liz. That TRNP sounds lovely as well- sandalwood is one of my favourite ingredients, just beautiful. Great video ☺️ thank you
Hi Claire! I really do love Bengal rouge and I’m looking forward to wearing it this fall so cozy. The black rose musk you talk about sounds really nice as well. I will check it out. I am also looking forward to wearing Guerlain Samsara. 🍂🍁🎃🧡
Bust out those spicy ambers!! 🥰 It's true about merino wool though. Stuff sucks up perfume like a ssshhhhhhponge. 🧽😆 That's what I imagine a sponge sounds like. Stay warm out there Claire!🧣
Oh my goodness, you are highlighting so many of my faves!! ❤ Embers (the OG) and Fils de Joie are both incredible. I smelled Allure EDP for the first time today and quite liked it. It's still rather warm here (27 today) but looking forward to wearing these soon.
