I have a Dometic fridge, on 240v it sucks so much power it kills the batteries within an hour after dark! on 12v within 2 minutes it begins melting the insulation off the wire! and on gas which I run it, it uses a 9kg bottle every 14-21 days depending on conditions, THE worst fridge I have ever owned, very poor quality and will never buy one of their product again!
If you use the drain the carby feature on that generator and want to re start it turn the fuel back on and give it time to fill the carby bowl , at least 5 or 10 min and it will start right up if you don't give it time to fill the carby you will be pulling the cord 30 times before it starts.
Looking at the Grey water tank, I still don't understand why a Grey Water bypass isn't standard on these. Like 90% of the time you aren't actually going to use your Grey Water tank anyway and its really not much extra plumbing to have one.
once a year i put 10 steradent false teeth cleaner tablets in my tank, wait 10 mins, then run hot and cold taps until they just suds a bit, leave 24 hours, flush three times, tank and taps. great clean, scale remove and safe
Thanks very informative for a newby. Making a filler hose on the weekend 😂 Your thoughts on empty or full tanks when not using for a month or two or three? Hanging out till the end hoping you would touch on this. By the way your vids are great.
Thanks. Learn't a fair bit. One thing you did not tell us was where you empty the grey water tanks. I have been told ( after asking a lot of fellow caravaners ) is 1 You open up the outlet slightly and let it trickle out on the road as you drive. 2 When you arrive at the first town you come to stop on the side of the road and let it out into the gutter/drain. 3 Pull over in a rest stop and let it out onto the grass or bushland. 4 Dump points will allow you to empty your cassette as well as drain your grey water tank 5 Wait until you stop at a caravan park and drain it there. I personally prefer option 4 if it is true, or option 5 if I can wait that long. My opinion is option 1 - hell no Option 2 - local residents may be a bit upset Option 3 - may as well dump it in a National Park where you are camped. Can you tell me what is the recommended option. Thanks
Hi John, Definitely option 4 or 5 mate. We don’t recommend draining it on the road or in the national parks as that is the idea of capturing it to take away from those areas. Thanks 👍
Thank you for your brilliant advice. I decided to skip the expensive solar panels and batteries. Can you test and compare generators and power stations? I will appreciate it
Really interesting how it effects ball weight but what isnt mentioned when you talk about extending draw bar is rear axle load on car which can be 1.5x ball weight making rear axle overloaded. There really is so much to think about when talking weights it is crazy.
The reason for not using scales under the wheels is to keep it simple. We really want people to understand what happens without a lot of numbers and confusion. This is used as a demonstration to gain an understanding of how weight effects the ball weight.
Thanks, guys. For that ,i live in Tasmania, and we are looking for a caravan to travel around . We are not happy with some of the caravan sellers in Tasmania, so we could be heading to the main land To buy a caravan. .
twin water, twin spares, firewood box - its about the engineering for the van, not just the fact they are there. Good van manufacturers will have done all this in the design and engineering phase. Sadly and in reality it's the lack of good design and engineering (and subsequent lack of regulation) in van industry that is a big part of the issue!
Another tip, make use of your site and position your van correctly, expect some feedback from your neighbours if you try and erect your awning on their site because you plonked your van in the middle of your site. Another bonus tip, no your neighbours don’t want to listen to the junk you’re playing so use ear pods or headphones if you want your music loud. Enjoy.
Apparently reversing a longer caravan is easier than a very short caravan...I just bought a tiny 11 ft caravan 😭 plus I can't find towing mirrors to fit my car mirrors!! I'm rapidly losing my confidence 😢
