You can do that, but Lexus made the knuckle as non-serviceable and it's not supposed to be taken out and a new one put back in. Aftermarket companies started making ball joints that fit in there and you can press in. The convenience is if someone doesn't have a press or access to one they don't have to deal with all that. There's also no downtime with just swapping in a whole new knuckle. Lastly you can get the OEM knuckles for around $220 each. So is $220 for a brand new knuckle worth it vs the price of new ball joints, the time cost of labor, pressing in, pressing out, etc.
Just watching and the first 3 minutes would be all I need to do to access the pesky PCV valve to change that...along with the hose it goes to using a very long needle nose...I think
Is it correct to say that when it comes to the ls460 control arm failure, really the ONLY thing that fails on these is the RUBBER. The actual metal parts themselves don’t fail. Is that an accurate statement?
@Mabeylater293 True, but I think the big reason why the rubber fails is because when people replace these they don't use a 4 post lift or torque the arms with the vehicle simulated as being on the ground with the suspension loaded. So the rubber is always stretched from the get-go That's my theory anyways.
@Mabeylater293 I've had three 2007s and the arms on all of them lasted at least 80-90k from new before the uppers went.. Could have been a bad batch affecting certain run of cars, other than that I'm not sure.
If I got my hands this. It would be slammed on some wide 5 BRMs, sprint stars, or raders. Aftermarket exhaust, wood slat rack, mesh visor, hidden stereo with subs in the rear door panels. Full matching vintage luggage and picnic set.
