Keith Emerson is the only keyboard player ever admired by guitar players; he was THAT good. For those of you who don't know, he took his own life in 2016 at age 71 when nerve damage in his wrist and hand due to focal dystonia reached a point that he couldn't play anymore- and he saw no reason to stick around.
Ah, yeah...I was in primary school when I heard this song. My sitter back then said "it's a very sad, break-up song from Family Ties"...took me years to understand why she said that.
I remember seeing PPM on some program on PBS in which they were on the same stage with a bunch of other folksingers, including Odetta. Mary said something to the effect that "all of us have been singing for decades and things haven't changed enough." Then she said this (or something *very* close): "We must try harder!" Here's what I thought at the time: If it isn't working, you should DO SOMETHING ELSE, DINGBAT!
Im 36 years old. When i was growing up in the islands of the Philippines this was one of the music that my mother used to play every morning. Im glad that Peter Paul and Mary was part of my childhood.
I am a 71 old Japanese man. I had loved them since 1967 I was a student of hi-school. I've worked for Wyeth global pharmasuitical company. I remember that I enjoyed to sing this song with American colleagues. We love the pieace.
Funny this post should mention the Best of Fridays collection... because although parts of this episode are on it, this musical performance is NOT. In fact none of the episodes appear to be complete. There are some great sketches and bands in the collection, so don't get me wrong, if you fondly remember Fridays, you might like it, but there's also a good chance that the sketch or musical performance you remember fondly is NOT on it.
When I saw Kiss at that point, my world collapsed...the outfit, the songs, that wasn't the band Kiss as we knew them... At this point I hated Kiss!!! I was so shocked!!!😳😳😳
