CEs are the best. When things hit the fan, you hope USAF CEs (especially RED HORSE and Emergency Management) will be around.

As an OEM volunteer in emergency response and communication, I've had the pleasure of working with Air Force Personnel. Everything from the ANG rescues, contingency operations, and disaster response, they have been there. I remember when Sandy hit our coast, average people were thinking it was the end of the world. Sandy wasn't even a CAT 1 anymore when it hit. Those of us in the emergency response field were thinking if this had been a CAT 3, nothing would have been left. Nothing.

Was in the 02 'Second to the BATS".. The center of the building had an open area where in the evenings we could watch the circling Bats while polishing the boots before bed. Later in the evening a few would get through and the dorm guard was lose his %hit..LOL great times , funny stories .

I would love to be a CE! It is my life’s goal. Unfortunately, schooling is quite expensive around here for that, and because of that, I would like to join the Air Force NG as an Enlisted Airman in the trades to help my community and help my personal goal of getting schooling funded for me.

BMT Jan-Feb ‘83 3723 FLT 035…oh the memories, still a great experience back then! Certainly the times have changed a great deal since back in my Lackland days..one of those barracks was probably the one I was in back in the day…

I worked in Alaska for years. Use to the cold but went to retirement in Asia and it’s not cold 😂. Very difficult to adjust to hot weather. Military training can’t prepare you for that adjustment and the summer BDU just doesn’t work

1971, Dorms seemed pretty up to date at the time. Arrived three weeks after I turned 17. Lackland certainly changed my life. It almost seems like my life really started there in one of those dorms. 3723BMTS Flight 1053. BMTI Sgt Robleto, and Sgt Miller. Kinda sad to see them getting torn down. Blessings to all my fellow Airmen past, present, and future.

Inspiring. Once heard someone say of Red Horse 'you can take them to the middle of the woods, ask them to build an airfield, come back in a week and they've built an airfield. Come back two days after that, and they've installed landscaping and a games room.'

Great robot but terrible acquisition plan. Got one delivered that had a factory defect, sent it back to the manufacturer and was told the warranty had expired (short warranty and long delivery schedule) and now my flight is on the hook for a $35K fix that Harris should be responsible for but it’s coming out of my flights underfunded budget. #leadtheway

We were training the Iranian Air Force in 1971. They had barracks opposite us. One guy was murdered there. I heard the students realized he was a spy and they killed him.

I stayed in a brand-new barracks at Lackland. They hadn't figured the air conditioning out yet. It got so cold at night, there was a thin layer of ice on the windows by morning. I'm from a cold state and loved it. Slept very well.
