I’m a grappler primarily. However not all fights involve grappling. But all fights involve striking. A boxing match isn’t a fight. A jiu jitsu match isn’t a fight. That’s why someone who boxes doesn’t call himself a fighter, he says he’s a boxer.
You can’t call a roll session where people pull guard from the start a fight😂 Yea boxing is a fight because all fights start on the feet. Even in ufc, typical fight is 70% boxing
He's making a correct observation more so than defending it. In a real fight, the takedown could end the fight. A sub or choke could end it. Or a knockout punch. Considering that bjj is a grappling art, it should care about takedowns. Fights dont start on the knees or on the ground.
MMA isn't a fight. Shootouts are a fight. It's the "game of MMA," not a fight. Shootouts aren't a fight. If there's no nukes involved it's not a real fight. Nuclear war isn't a fight. If it's not intergalactic then you should call it a match or even just a "game."
What you guys don’t seem to realize is that you cant always take everyone down. And even then, fighting for the takedown often results in getting you tired, and I believe to intentionally get tired before we even hit the ground is stupid.
If executed correctly The throw or takedown is all ya need to end the fight.. But it also depends on what scenario he’s referring to.. Street or sport.. two very different situations
Such a weirdo, oh ok doesnt care ok Ken……..Boxing doesnt care about your X guard. It cares 0.6 seconds after ur jaw breaks. God he loves the sound of his own voice.
The only rule sets I'm aware of in any sort of submission grappling is in ADCC and catch wrestling, the latter of which no one watches or cares about anyway.
