Info here is for australian models Neville , wasnt sure what part of the world you are at. The front of the base lifts straight up either side of the vehicle. It does take some force to lift the seat up though There are metal loops that attach to the floor via cushion clip which plugs into the body work. When ever I am fitting these particular models I have ready " new cushion pad clips " to replace the old ones if they are damaged during removal When I post a seat cover out ( here in australia ) I supply instructions how to do this as well as a pair of new replacement clips.
The base can be removed in the MG4 There is 2 x metal loops at the front of the base that clip into plastic fastener clip retainers on the floor You have to be careful though when you pull the base up to disconnect it from the floor as those plastic retainers are prone to cracking, meaning you may need to buy a new set to put the base back in place When I post out seat covers I supply a set of clips with the rear seat covers
