Shawn, I've watched you on ShopNBC when I bought my first Invicta (Lupah / leather strap) in 2004. I just heard the news of the network switch for Invicta and I think that ShopHQ is in trouble. Great podcast on the latest news in shopping online/TV sphere. Have a great weekend.

I always thought the buyer of Shop HQ bought it to sell as another network for sports etc.By letting so many brands go away I feel I was right.

No great loss probably what killed Shop HQ to begin with. Along with his other side lines Medictheraputic and his daughter's cheap jewelry line.

"Where going to take a look at our next item" (while trying to hold back laughter) ie. "we're NOT going to take another chance "demonstrating" how this clock works.....just. no. lolol. I loved Precious Moments in the 70's/80's even 90's. I still have one little item from 1996, my mom gave me a little decorate plate (only 3" across) on a little stand....it says "Bless This House", given to me when I bought my condo. Still sits on my stove, signed by my mom (no longer here) on the back.💕

Susan Jones was such a bundle of energy!! Loved her!! She was there until at least the early 90s, getting bumped over to Home Shopping Spree in her last few years. They called Home Shopping Spree (which evolved from the Home Shopping Overnight Service) "Network 4" even though it was their 3rd 24 hour network.

Colleen left KSTP about a year before Good Company ended to move to Tampa/St Petersburg to join HSN. A few years ago,she cutback her hosting duties and now she only hosts her Colleen Lopez jewelry and clothing shows about twice a week and works off screen curating them. She is no longer listed on the host page, probably because she is considered a vendor/guest host. She turns 65 in November and I wonder if she is considering retirement just like Mary Beth Roe is doing in March?

Suzanne Runyan celebrates 20 years at HSN this year. She first came there in 2001,a few months after leaving QVC,as a monthy guest host for the Craftopia shows (HSN had just bought the company). After they sold off Craftopia,HSN offered her a full-time host position,so she and her family moved from West Chester,PA to the Tampa/St Petersburg area.

Melissa Miner has been at ShopHQ for 20 years this year, but she actually was a guest 2 years earlier, representing a Moissante jewelry line. They offered her the host job and then she and her family moved from Nashville to the Minneapolis area. I remember Melissa from Shop At Home in the 90s. She is the longest running consecutive tenured host there now. Bobbi Ray Carter is the longest running consecutive host in the history of the entire home shopping industry, with 41 years and she's still going strong.

Colleen Lopez, along with Mary Beth Roe, are still the queens of TV shopping. Lovely Minnesota ladies with natural grace, charm and honesty. We enjoy buying from them because their enthusiasm for their products is contagious, and we feel, genuine. We got to know their families and they gave us peeks into their lives. Isn't this piece of video marvelous Shawn! Thanks for bringing it to us.

I absolutely cannot agree with some of your choices of great hosts. Alberti? Jen Coffey? Both never shut up and make the shows about themselves. I think in general the current broadcasts on HSN are far more professional and watchable. QVC has fallen off of a cliff

Wow, this is really cool. First, the music and graphics are literally the stuff my childhood dreams were made of. On top of that, the hosts here had a believable banter that is notably more relaxed than hosts on some of the more well-known networks. This Noreen Harris is intriguing in her personality, especially! I'll have to set aside some time soon to check out your podcast. In the meantime, I'm an enthusiastic new subscriber to your channel.

Ya good ole days.. That was before the freaking Democracy and corporates got greedy and corrupted and now is getting worse, and the most mind boggling still dumb people vote for this mother fathers, how freaking dumb can be

That’s so glorious I almost burst into tears! I’m seriously considering taking a screenshot and commissioning a mural. I can’t pick a favorite: the hair, the utterly natural conversation style and body movements, or those state-of-the-art graphics. The fact that it’s one of the ‘whitest’ things I’ve ever seen, is gravy.😂

Mary Beth had been planning her retirement for a long time. She sold her lake house to buy a forever home to retire in. Then put up her main house for sale and had a buyer to only back out at the last min. Then found another buyer and closed then announced her retirement. You have to admit QVC is spinning out of control between sales and new hosts.

Just discovered your podcast today, listened to some fascinating episodes...one in particular was older 2022, with Marvin Segal...he mentions a good book to read on the subject, you had said you'd put in the episode notes, I don't see it there, unless I missed something.. Can you answer that here, pls if you see this? Tks! Great podcast...very interesting.

The history of television shopping networks is just fascinating! Shawn, I first started watching shopping channels (QVC) in the late 90s and enjoyed your watch show presentations when it was then, I think, ShopNBC. What do you think about QVC's new "Age of Possibility" focusing on 50+ consumers (a lot of Boomers out there)?

That was from when models weren't deliberately ofensive to the eye, they didn't have pink-haired pronoun camera crew, and they didn't yet undergo their rounds of laying off white hosts that people liked to make room for DEI hires with terrible personalities.
