Sargon Gabriel, born in 1947 in Habbaniyah, Iraq, is a distinguished Assyrian musician renowned for his traditional Assyrian folk music performances that incorporate the zurna and dawoola instruments. Currently residing in Chicago, Illinois, he has established a successful career in the music industry.
Mr. Gabriel's musical journey began in his teenage years, and he made his debut appearance on live television at the age of 17 in Baghdad, Iraq. He initially started as a backup singer for Albert Ruel Tamras, another prominent Assyrian artist, before embarking on a solo career. In 1987, he released an album titled "Way Way Minnakh," which included a cover of Albert Ruel Tamras's famous song "Asmar, Asmar."
Over the course of his illustrious career, Sargon Gabriel has released 22 albums to date and some singles, showcasing his exceptional musicianship and dedication to preserving Assyrian folk music.
