thanks for the information, fairly new to it. and totally makes sense to have one on hand for a crappy day. I was thinking of going the garage charger generator option for emergencies the info about the charging amps was very helpful cheers mate. its also effective at charging a power station. like the ecoflow delta 2 as it does it extremely fast and you can switch it off. (about 40min)
@@Vagare ok so I did and again NEVER SAW IT WORKING! didn't see it pulling any Fuel out of that bottle you marked you cut the video. the generator was not on then you told us oh it worked LOL so next time you do a video you should show People proof before they go and spend money. you never even turned the Generator ON. LOL
Marcus wow what can I say. It works by magic and all the other comments seem to get that. This is RU-vid, not the Supreme Court, so proof is only optional. The generator consumes 8ml of fuel per minute (eco throttle), so how long do you suggest i film that bottle slowing emptying at 8ml per minute in order to satisfy your curiosity. Id recommend you dont use this method, the magic works only when you truly believe. You should subscribe to Mythbusters, youll be happier there. 👌
Exactly the information i was looking for. Would it also be possible to plug 2- 20 amp chargers into one generator and charge a 100 amp battery fully in 2 1/2 hours?
Hey Dan, not ideal to run 2 x 240v smart chargers on the same battery, the charge profiles would need to identical. I have to reset my Enerdrive 60A charger's output to 40A in order to use my 1kVA Honda genset. I think from memory the Enerdrive charger requires 1050W set to 60A and 700W set to 40A
Here's one for you. I've just installed my first VSR split relay. Before I charged bat for about half an hour every day straight off the 12v dc output and noticed with a very good battery the voltage would go up into the 16's and settle at 12.9. A good battery, or good enough may go up to 13.2 and settle at say 12.5, which is good enough right. Now, with the split charger wired in the voltage read across the top of the bat with the 12v dc hammering in has dropped to 13.3 which is exactly the regulation specification for the split charger.... but.... in reverse, I mean I'm charging the leasure battery that is wired to the starter but charging it just by connecting the genny 12v dc, so the current may be going through the VSR but not coming through it. So wtf's the magic of that? How can the split charger maintain the cross voltage at 13.3 when the dc is plugged straight on the bat?
This is immensely helpful! Thank you soo much for sharing. I've bought a second hand mini heki and the fly screen is wrinkling like yours did. I can see that it is also been a bit ripped on one side. Do you have any suggestions on what I could use to fix it? Glue? String? I'm afraid it won't wrinkle back properly.
Great video, I made a similar one, but bought the extruded aluminium fly screen , not the folded style frame material, and bought the midgee mesh from mitre 10. Thanks for posting.
Thanks mate....a 'no nonsense' simple explanation of how the 3ways work 👍 I already knew everything you mentioned, by you clarified in better detail eg: fridge needs to be level, but now I know there's no need for +/- spit thickness :) I was planning on 'correcting' you re: running the fridge(s) on 12v, but you even cut in and clarified that point.....shout yourself an extra cordial. Well done 👍👍
Hi, I have a 2.2kw petrol generator the instructions say i need to ground it, would i need to ground it charging a battery using a battery charger from the 240 outlet or if i was using an extension lead to power a device such as a domestic fridge or a microwave ? Thanks in advance.
Hey Richard. Most folk (me included) either dont know or dont care about the risks of not having a proper earth. Some folk install RVD device to compliment the van's RCD. Youll find that most generators have an earth terminal which you can connect to a metal stake belted into the ground.
Have you had a chance to put this together yet? I am interested in how you attached the frame to the door and how you worked around the top curved corners.
Sure do, scroll down thru the vids. Its only a limited retension via ine rotation at the braked end. Although re-tensioing both ends is favourable, the single braked end is effective and a safer option
Great video. Many thanks. I have three way dometic came with the van. I like the silence but so slow to cool and gives up when hot. My question is my fridge compartment condenser never gets icy. Freezer does get icy. It’s two door. Is that a fault in your experience?? Many thanks. Ps I leave it on 240 all the time in my shed so still doesn’t get icy.
Icing freezer is typical. Before it gets too bad do a quick de-ice. Last thing in the day quickly take everything out of the freezer, put a towel in there, smash it with a hair dryer, mop up as much water as possible and load it back up and leave it closed to recover. Should only 5 or so minutes and it will recover relatively quickly, especially if you do do it just before bed.
Howdy, my screens carbon was limited to one side and not too excessive. I soaked mine in petrol, use a fine wire brush and blew it out with a compressor. Im now aware the spanner only comes with the genuine replacement plug
@@Vagare Thanks. We got severely ripped off with our German heaters! (Eberspacher and Webasto) My son bought a Chinese one for about a tenth of the price. It works faultlessly, and came with spare parts AND tools including a tube spanner, a hook and insert tool, and a spare screen.
The Eberspacher is expensive for sure. Chinese models are very hit miss, some people have great success just as many have nothing but problems. I personally wouldnt own anything chinese that produces CO, i have zero faith in them, so unfortunately i too am locked into paying too much but i manage to square that away by having a better, safer product a peace of mind
i did it! And it was delicious, buuut, while camping, I forgot how long the bread was supposed to bake... and I didn't want to disturb the coals carefully set on the curved Dutch oven lid, so I let it bake for an hour. I should have checked, and now I know better, and am trying again a second time. The first result was a lovely fluffy bread, with what was probably once a nice crunchy crust, but because of the extra cook time, there was an even quarter inch of black char all around the loaf's crust. We ate up the insides, and that was good. Lol. This second attempt looks much better- it's cooling now :)
Yes, common issue with the Milenco. Ill have a fix for that one way or another, but ill need to let Milenco and the caravan manufacturer have a crack at it first.
My Bedourie oven is spun steel, so preheats very quickly. Adding coals will depend on ambient temperature, but bread is very happy to start at very high temperatures and then drop somewhat over the duration so youll only ever need to add minimal extra coals. Homemade campfire bread is delicious
Enjoyed your video. I have ordered a new vehicle and a new caravan with a 3 way fridge. I am wondering how you wire your fridge to the car. Considering the current, do you wire it through a 12 pin plug, or an Anderson plug? I think the new fridge will be an automatic changeover between battery and gas. So if I stop for lunch and it automatically switches to gas, that assumes that the gas is on. Should I drive with the gas on, or turn it on when I stop for lunch?
Hey John. I have a compressor fridge now (recent new van) but Im still a fan of the 3 way. The Achilles heel of the 3 way (heat) is manageable, not so much with the compressor (sun, or lack of it). I used just the 12 pin plug for my 3 way for many years, but swapped over to an Anderson in the current car only because we had a new van with a more sophisticated energy system on order with DCDC charging etc and it was more convenient to use that Anderson to run the 3 way for the short time before it was sold. I never had any issues with the 12 pin. The larger pins are rated at 35A and the fridge will draw around 18A'ish, just keep the plugs clean and the pins snug (spread) to avoid poor connections resulting in overheating in the plug and never use a liquid lube in the plug like WD40 etc. Never travel with the gas turned on, it's not safe and Ill stand corrected but I think the gas regs actually forbid it. Exciting times are ahead for you, enjoy the new caravan. Safe travels.
