Hi Mike! Yes, its crazy, isn't it. It was time for me to get new specs and sunglasses. The last time i got glasses, the sunglasses were 300 dollars. This place wanted 675 dollars just for sunglasses alone. I walked out. The next place i got both pairs for about 600. This is still exorbitant, given that the frames are probably made in China and cost a few dollars to make. What a racket. I should have been an optometrist!

Hi Bill, Sorry I've not been in touch of late. It's partly connected with THIS saga. After I returned for my last refund, which was delayed due to staff illness. One of the staff told me she had been ill with sore throat and off work. I was worried by this. Two days later I had Covid for the first time. While I cannot prove that's where I got it from, it's most likely, as I lead a hermit's life and keep well clear of people. I had 2 days of doing nothing, I just stayed in bed. I week later I'm negative now but still have a cough. That's my excuse Bill. Lots to catch up on for sure. Mike

Hi Mike, I've just done the exchange rate to £. I have my eyes tested by scrivens or specasavers in Rugeley Staffordshire. I then take the prescription to an independent spectacle manufacturers which is adjacent to the above mentioned. I have rimless variofocals with transitions lenses. They cost about £230-£250.

@@vinaymulukutla358 When I first applied for a job with, the then AMC. I was sent to MK. I was horrified by what I had seen. They used ushers to act as projectionists. Zero presentation, zero training, zero skills. One moment they were sweeping the floors and selling popcorn, next showing films. Needless to say, they had major issues. Many damaged prints, wrong sound formats, wrong aspect ratio. I could go on. I thought if this was the future of cinema, it's not for me. I reported back to the main man with my notice. He was amazed at my comments. Anyway, to cut a VERY long story shorter. I was given the task of sorting it all out. Firstly, I stopped all floor staff entering the projection area, hired proper projectionists. The rest is all history. I remained with AMC/UCI for 10 years a senior technical engineer, opening many new multiplexes in UK, and many other countries also. MK, being the first, it was made to the US market design. From then on things were more to UK tastes, thank goodness.

Thanks for this. I've been having weird issues with a project and just been though my stock of 90 ICs... around 50% were probably fake. Some I've had for years and others I've picked up when I've seen them going cheap, so I've no idea which ICs from from where. Tried the magnetic test but they are all magnetic. I'm going to order a couple from a proper supplier and see how they test.

Very sorry to hear of your troubles for someting that should be relatively simple in this day and age. The mis-matched nose pads and leaving sharp edges are both inexcusable and represent signs of neglect (or apathy) on their part. How did they expect you to wear them with any semblance of comfort and safety? My wife stopped buying her eyeglasses from opticians years ago because of similar experiences to yours and because of their sky high prices. Now she just gets the prescriptions from them and buys the actual frames and lenses through our local Costco (which isn't perfect either, but at least it is much less expensive). She always keeps a spare set of glasses around though because to get proper lens fits into existing frames they really do need to send them off to the lens grinding facility for fitting. Having engraved numbers on the lenses in the field of view would indeed be a problem. To me it would always look like they were dirty, or chipped perhaps. It seems like a very bad idea on the part of the manufacturers. Looking forward to future videos from you, as are a lot of other people..! Despite the subject of this one, it is great to see you making them again. 😀

This has happened to me (receiving glasses which still have numbers on the lenses) - luckily the e-tailer I purchased them from allowed me to purchase another pair. I tend to buy my glasses online and I've been with them for over 10 years so I put it down to just bad luck. I always have a spare pair at home as I can't see things like the numbers of buses or shelf labels in shops very well without them! Brick and mortar store prices for glasses are horrendous - I can easily be charged £400 a pair or more for varifocals (medium prescription, non-designer frames).

After a long fight I got my money back, and a short time later the store closed. I then use another optician and went to my eye doctor, and he wrote me a note "The Glasses don't' fit the eyes!" Hey Man!!!! You have the comments turned off in your video from 4 years ago. It’s about numbers on your glasses…. I too have numbers on my progressive lenses and they are driving me nuts. Eye glass shop states I can upgrade to the premium lenses for another $120.00 US dollars to make them go away!?!?! WHAT!?!? I’m with you, WHY does the manufacturer put that on them!?!?!?
@MichaelBeeny
@MichaelBeeny 2 месяца назад
The numbers are to identify the proscription. Without these it's just a piece of plastic. These numbers are laser cut. It seems to vary from one manufacture to another. It does seem ridicules to have to pay more for something you should not see anyway. My answer is to simply reject the lens as unsuitable for purpose. This is law in many countries. I think I might suggest where to put the $120 extra!! My channel has now closed, due to health issues, I have removed comments from old videos to cut my workload down somewhat.

@MichaelBeeny
@MichaelBeeny 2 месяца назад
Good to hear from you James. If you have DC offset, it's normally the first 2 transistors out of balance. If you use a matched pair the offset should be under 10mV.
@ronschauer839
@ronschauer839 2 месяца назад
@@MichaelBeeny Yes, when I built my L12 amps I hand-picked matched pairs of transistors for the input stage and the offsets are very low on either channel. However, if you can add an adjustment pot to the circuit it can be made even better. I recently did that on a headphone amp which was running at around 27-29mv and now it is zero on both channels.

At last, a video which has comments turned on! Please Mr Beeny, before you criticise another amplifier for poor square wave rendition, just pass that square wave signal through a passive filter with a low pass of say 20 kHz. 3db point. It is an unusual human who can hear that high, middle aged people say 40ish may have problems above 12kHz. An amplifier with a pass band of 20 to 20kHz will not pass a 20kHz square wave as square. It will be more like a sine wave and attenuated. That's how the world works. A lower frequency square wave, say 100Hz may be useful as a quick check on frequency 'balance'. Used to be the in thing setting up tape decks using an analog scope. But today we have clever scopes and computers with frequency sweeps and FFT's to do that job on amplifiers.

The consequences are the just die prematurely. Anyway, thanks for writing and good luck with getting your Stent. What is the issue? long waiting list or simply not available in your country?
