Thanks for the upload. I’m 38 and I remember watching Near Dark on HBO as a kid. And seeing the VHS cover in the video store. Katheryn definitely inspired my filmmaker journey with Point Break, Hurt Locker etc. And today my knowledge expanded with this interview. I do camera and lighting on union films now.
I don't generally have favorites. But this may be my favorite comedy ever. It's absolutely in my top 10, and probably top 5 movies. I've probably seem it 50 times and it never gets old.

It's one of those films I had intended to watch for years but never got around to it, so I jumped on the wonderful opportunity to see the newly remastered Final Cut at the cinema just last weekend ... what great fortune to get to see it for the very first time actually on the big screen in it's best possible form!!! As with anything famous, when you finally see it for yourself it's never even close to what you had imagined all these years!!😆 Ever since I've been gobbling up anything I can find about it on youtube!!
Charlie is next to the gold on a pallet...its simple. The rest of the guys strip off their clothes and tie them together into a lasso that Charlie can guide into place and pull the gold back. Or Charlie could take individual bars and start to send them back, one by one
I love the portrayal of how the police officer's sense of entitled faith is totally rigid and harmful too, not only that of the pagans. And, against that, is the backdrop of nature, animals, tides and seasons that (almost Lovecraft style) reinforces the sense of futility or smallness of human faith. The musical scenes reinforce the cultish feel, as music is a peculiar activity that makes you participate with others being galvanised around a leader or tradition.
It sucks how this is only on the DVD releases overseas (ex. Australia), because only my copy here (USA) has the theatrical trailer. I love behind-the-scenes stuff, especially if it shows footage that didn't make it to the final movie.

I was a freshman at the UofO when Animal House was being filmed. One day I was taking a shortcut across the soccer field on my way back to the dorm with a backpack full of beer that I had just bought at an off campus market. I noticed an ROTC outfit with a leader on a white horse on my left but didn’t think much about it. There were floodlights on the hill behind them but again, nothing clicked. Then I saw the movie and realized that I had held up the shooting of the scene where one of the Animal House guys was shooting golf balls at the ROTC commander. I had walked straight into their background.

The design of the first Predator in part 1 was so great. I didn't really like this one. Even all of the movies that followed, I still think the first design was the best.
Chainsaw 2 was a classic. I grew up in the 80’s, and my friends and I would always watch this late at night. After rewatching it as an adult, I can say for certain: it’s a fantastic movie…..for what it is, which is a whacky dark comedy. The acting is phenomenal. Especially Bill Mosley and Dennis Hopper.
