Thanks, Sandy! Some memories for those that were there, and something to watch for those who couldn't make it. A weekend where people were brought together by reggae music (not forgetting some afrobeats as well!).
There are three Sunday sessions left this summer on Sundays in Jul, Aug, Sep at Concord 2 live music venue in Brighton. See Roots Garden Records facebook page for more details, FieldMarshall.
Maybe reggae is not for you then. Not all genres of music suit everybody. It also matters how you listen to it - the music makes a lot of use of bass so listening on a mobile phone will not give you the full effect. Anyway, here are a dozen artists you could investigate: * Bob Marley * Peter Tosh * Bunny Wailer * Burning Spear * Toots and the Maytals * Jimmy Cliff * Steel Pulse * Dennis Brown * Gregory Isaacs * Sizzla * Chronixx * Protoje
@@ReggaeManStan thank you. I've been to events where reggae has been played and I've been into it. On record I've been abit underwhelmed but I'll check them out for sure. Cheers ears
At that time in the London of the late 60s 70s and even up into the early 80s (post Race Relations Act 1976), remember that a lot of the older national front vanguards (and white racist British neo nazi sympathisers in general) steered their offspring and themselves into joining the ranks of the MET, armed forces, intelligence service. Ultimately nuff ended up into the upper echelons of British society as legal and judicial employees of the state, civil servants and MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT!! The point I guess I'm trying to put down here is that the mass recruitment drive of young inexperienced cops by Thatchers government that Lloydie speaks of, was happening years before 1979 when Thatchers government took power!! Those newly recruited cops behaved with them brutality towards black people BECAUSE THEY WERE RACIST!! And they had these attitudes FROM BIRTH!! Once in positions of authority, these young inexperienced recruits to the MET were galvanised fully into their white supremacist duties, while having their views, attitudes and evil behaviours reinforced and endorsed by their establishment, older officers of higher rank and of course their peers. Hence why the brutality and injustices were committed by them with such impunity, Hence why no police have ever been charged tried and convicted of murder of ANY block man woman or youngster in this ukkk.. Coxsone is watering down and sugar coating this issue by trying to explain police brutality away and brush under the carpet as simply being because of young inexperienced cops just out of their teens with no understanding of black ppl culture. THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF UNDERSTANDING YOU! OVERS DAT! THEY PLAN TO GIVE YOU NOTHING!!!!
Thanks, International Reggae Collection! It was great to see and hear RKD Hi-Fi playing again. Big Up to Roots Garden Sound System for inviting Jah Lingwa to Brighton!

Jah Lingwa is just amazing! This was by far the best bit of video I took today, half an hour before the end of the session. More clips to follow soon. Thanks for the early comment, Ian BigDread_Lion!
