Hey Lewis, realise you have been away from RU-vid for awhile, but just wondering if you could do a how to for the guitar riff you played for Jessie J on Nobody´s Perfect. Love your guitar playing on that one! cheers
Nice video and playing! Like vintage, choosing CS guitar a search party mission. Not all magic trees! For me, found a 2010 CS Pro Strat with more modern appointments closer to a Jeff Beck Sig guitar and it’s the perfect bridge for me personally. Not too traditional and not quite Super Strat that I’ve never quite found or bonded with despite owning and selling three of them!! Fender Ultra line seems pretty solid by the way!✌🏽❤️
Man the Ibanez sounds great! I had no idea the dual hum bucker AZ could get a funky sound like that so I appreciate the demo. I think the thinness of the strat single coils suits the song mix to let the vocals shine. But the Ibanez sounds better as a guitar part
BTW, the Ultra has 22 frets and custom shop has 21 frets. Therefore the string has more space to vibrate on the custom shop. The outcome of that, i don't know. But i'm guessing it will give some more dynamic range when playing hard.
I'm completely shocked that I liked the Ultra more. I'm extra confused, but also delighted. Changing the way I'm thinking about my next guitar buy. Thanks for the great video!!!! Would love to hear what the ultra sounds like with the pickups changed to some CS single coils.!!!
B is deeper sounding, less pronounced mids, seems like more fun to play, so it should be a CS, but I'm always wrong in those tests, so my guess is that B is Ultra, and A is CS (flatter and more harsh sounding).
Great video. I bought one of these myself and will never look back. You are a wicked player, you wouldn't happen to be friend with Chris Buck now would you? 😜
Guitar 1 definitely sounds fuller to me but that said I think the most important thing is which guitar plays the best to you! The Ultras are amazing players, pickups etc can be changed. The Custom shop guitars generally don't play as well because they're based on vintage specs. But again, that's subjective.
Really nice playing. One very minor suggestion though is that with nylon strings, vibrato sounds best with a motion parallel to the neck (like a violin player does) rather than the sideways motion that works best on a steel string. Also, you would probably be better with the NTX crossover style instrument instead of the classical guitar form factor of the NCX. I really love your touch and your sound regardless.
Just got me the original No.5 and been deep diving reviews etc. Absolutely killer pedal and I'm trying to secure the latest iteration from Sinvertek, the N5+3D Standard. Fingers crossed I can get one. Now all I need to do is learn to play even half as good as you.
the neck of the ultra is from another planet, why does fender make the neck of the custom all baseball bats? the old fenders had smaller necks. But the ultras have magnets that don't do them justice, I put the custom 69s in them and they're a whole other story
What a backing track and you over it uau what a solo. My ears thanks you. Can you help me find that backing track? I want to try it. Thanks again for the video well made. Thanks. Any recommendations for a tube screamer for srv sounds with out braking the bank? Best regards.
I think you get it right. What most people want to watch is this really personal approach to an instrument. And in this direction, you rock it! I’m looking ahead to buy this model of classic/modern acoustic guitar. Cheers!
Ignoring the actual sounds in the video, the American Ultra is my favourite Strat to play. I consider it to be a platform upon which you build the guitar that you want e.g. replace the pickups with whatever rings your bells.
That wonderful Koss-inspired soloing in the blues demo is enough to make me want that amp, although something tells me that I won't find it when I open the box.
