He was my inspiration to me start playing drums along with Marilyn Manson. I got to tell him that. But unfortunately I had to stop playing due to not feasible for me playing anymore.
He's amazing. I had the pleasure meeting him unfortunately I had low blood sugar and he recognized it and he went on his tout bus and got me some juice from his fridge and his drummer put me in his car rental so I could cool off cuz it was extremely hot that night waiting for him to come out from his concert. I loved how he gotten darker with his music. He had his family with him on tour but his mother had Already died, but his wife and his dad. He needs their support, he finds his grounding within with them. I think it's awesome.
This man is a genius, it really touched me in the end, everybody thinks he's fab, but still he's got this stage fever before Wembley, like as if it was his first concert, but once on stage the man the legend stands there. And not to forget his close family who are the pillars, the foundation of his being. A true Artis with an original sound, something we often mis in these times…
Gary's music is absolutely unique and unforgettable. The synthizers just soar,and crackle with electricity,yet his songs are very emotional as well.A true musical genius who deserves the adulation he gets from his fans,and I am one since 1979 after hearing Are Friends Elecric the first time.
Not a huge fan. Only really like the Tubeway Army album and Telekon. But I did meet him a few years ago and he was the sweetest guy. Really unassuming and Im glad he’s still doing his thing and still has a fanbase. I think I would have appreciated him more if I wasn’t already into John Foxx Ultravox and Bowie Low/Heroes. By the time I heard Down In The Park etc those songs didn’t sound so fresh to me. I can imagine they would be mind blowing if they were your first introduction to synth music
This dude does the BEST impression of Gary Numan in his prime that I've ever seen .I do think it's quite rude of the drunks at the front dancing blocking people's views though!
Love Gary so much, especially his “new” work. I’m a choreographer and often use his music to create dances too. I have seen him perform live many times, he is a brilliant performer and moves wonderfully!
I am 55 years old and have been a fan since 1979, so 45 years now (WOW) when CARS came on AM Radio and I heard that warble, I got so excited and then the snare drum, etc. The B side of Cars was METAL, one of my favorite songs, and the one bass slide is what made me want to play bass guitar, and I've been playing for over 30 years now. Gary Numan is in his 60's now in 2024 and still looks like he's 30 on stage. The guy is unstoppable !
I was working in the kitchen of a nightclub called Pantiles in Bagshot, Surrey when Gary walked in. At the height of his career, with bleached blonde hair, and looking cool as fuck, he looked at me and said, and I quote, "D'ya wanna cup of tea ?". I just looked at him for a couple of seconds as i realised the situation and said, "Yeah cheers mate". He had come to pick up his girlfriend at the time who was a go-go dancer at the club. He made me and my friend a cup of tea and we had a quick chat about nothing, and then his girlfriend entered to which he said his goodbyes and they left. Absolutely lovely bloke, very down to earth and humble. I've never forgotten how "normal" the whole situation was, as if he was a mate when in reality at that time he was the man. Even though the so called music critics of the time were slating him and his music, the real listeners and honest critics of his art, us, knew it was way ahead of its time and that this man was a genius. And even to this day, his music from the late seventies early eighties is still ahead of this time. His music is genuine, honest and from the heart. It is music from a tortured soul searching for the truth and love of God !
I've always found Gary's music hypnotic. Ever since being a kid in the 80's. I have ADD my daughter has autism and ADD. I played her his early stuff, and his current albums. She loves it, she's 7. Theirs a connection in his sound for us, his biog has helped us understand a outlook on life as ND he is a music god and a pioneer
"You could just about dance to it"...indeed, that was the appeal of his music back in the day. I just can't get into this NIN obsession he's had for more than 30 years. It's boring and harsh. I listen to his first four albums regularly, but everything after I can't help but ignore. I wish he'd get back to the sounds he made '78-'81...I think that's what we've all been waiting for. Maybe it's too late now?
Way Back when , Gary Numan Tubeway Army " Our Friends Electric ,,,Got that album around 1977 I think , he is never been that far away , the other 15 Cd's are on the laptop music machine for the home audio , and in the Benz via flashdrive ,,,,,,Never have I had his music out of site , out of listening ,,, 1 of the all time greatest Synth artists.
I last saw you Gary in London 42 years ago, a superb concert, i was knocked out at how good you were so many years later at this Liverpool concert, you're an English icon, love you Gary!
Was at Wembley, when he walked out on stage I was crying. Been a Numanoid since 1979 and always will be, through the good times and the bad times, and now the resurrection. An incredible songwriter, musician and technological genius, someone who pushes to the limit and beyond with synth sounds and indeed sonic sounds, Omnisphere is a brilliant piece of software that he uses and some of the sounds he coaxes from that make me think "how did he do that??" Cannot wait to see what he comes up with next...........
