Definitely not worth it. Not if you walk away hungry. The POINT of food is to satisfy you, not just impress you. And the ideal is to satisfy AND impress you.
Those mussels looked so delicious. I’m exactly the same way with lobsters. I need to get every single piece of meat. Nothing to do with the price either.
The video is only 8 minutes long though? Pretty sure his view count drop is because he haven't been uploading lately, this is just his side channel. His main channel is about photography which he is very active on.
As a chef myself whenever you serve someone never ever put something thats not edible on the plate with food besides the plate itself. So for the rockfish dish to be presented beside a rock is utter disaster. Embarrassing
That's a Ceviche Mixto (fish & seafood). Lenguado is Flounder. White fish's prefered as the flavor's more delicate. Was there no Camote (sweet potato)? The complete Guarnición must have sweet corn, sweet potato and cancha serrana (toasted corn, not popcorn, mind you).
I was gonna say, actually that seems reasonable but then I saw that this was 6 years ago, haha. Looks like on their menu, the items are 15-50% more expensive now. My how times have changed!!
I have to be honest, while parts of the experience looked good, this looks mad underwhelming. Props to you for giving an honest review of the experience, especially calling them out on the overly complicated techniques for lesser results. The idea that this is actually more expensive than Noma is bizarre.
Novelty restaurants come off to me as much ado about nothing like a six years old's birthday party ie mostly a dog and pony show for the eternally bored. I also wonder why every dish has to be unique to the point of weirdness but they are all served with that most old school beverage ie wine which you buy in a bottle from someone else and pour in a glass - not much creativity there but lots of profit to be had.
Have you ever eat a fresh raw oyster????🤭🤭🤭 I never try anyone is taken off from shell, unless they are not fresh. Obviously you wanted a free meal🤭🤭 what a poor westerner🙄🙄
This is actually embarrassing that they are making a stab at utilizing japanese ingredients and cooking techniques in such a sloppy way. Just off the top of my head, they keep using Sansho leaves that are a bit bigger than what japanese would consider usable. Plating seems rough and garish and heavy on sauces, which is sort of against the simplicity of these traditions. And as you point out, Mottainai! Perhaps they should have stuck to nordic cuisine, then at least japanese clientele could enjoy something they don't already have a better version of!
Absolutely Amazing.. 🤤. OMG I was wondering where you have been I was missing some fantastic Content. I know you’re not here for me but keep up the amazing videos. 🙏
The Noma Australian residency a few years ago was one of the most memorable meals i've had. Whilst Kyoto is one of my favourite places in the world and I was really hoping to secure a booking too but it seems like I got lucky sitting this one out. I hope their next one is outstanding, appreciate the honest review.
Holy fk seeing the bill was made wow how overpriced and ridiculous that place is. How is that even allowed to happen and is the Demand that high for it to justify it?
Rene is the classic "Emporer has no clothes" BS. Conspicuous consumption and a cult of elite snobs. The film The Menu was inspired by this nonsense. Not paying his staff while mentally and physically abusing them while he charges these prices is a crime. He is not a real chef, he is a pseudo chef with good PR.
I've never been to Noma but judging from the plating and presentation I know it's somewhat lousy. I can't fathom how they serve the rockfish dish beside a rock cuz as a chef I'd never serve anything not edible beside food on a plate like that rockfish dish. It's utter disaster and embarrassing. It could have been played better. All I see they just wanna elevate it but being to extreme and losing thr real effect thus the customer himself wasn't impressed with the food there.
