This channel started with Magic: the Gathering related chatter, box openings and such, but has since expanded to other CCG openings and discussions. This includes Flesh and Blood, dead CCGs. Want to see me open anything in particular? Let me know!
Commander Mustard is Boros because Red and White kinda makes a mustard colour? As there is no Yellow in MtG (but we do have gold). And originally in Cluedo, being a Colonel, the soldier theme fits, which is also a Boros trait. The other 5 commanders then match the 5 colour of magic.
I have to say as ugly as they are, the Apex sleeves with the man symbols has a shuffle feel as smooth as katana and durability like dragon shield. The texture on them is great and I’d recommend them besides how ugly they are hahaga
@@SLowMtGsorry haha I meant the mana symbol sleeves were not nice to look at. Maybe not awful but not great. Especially the plains one which is hard to see lol
I managed to pick up a collector edition tricky terrain for 100 quid which I couldn't say no to lol, keen to check out the sample collectors, nice vid!
@@CaelanDeJager nice pick up. Hope you enjoy the deck! My main issue is that any upgrades you make won’t be in this fancy foiling. What did you get from your sample collectors pack?
Ah! Thanks for checking in. I left the deck in the paper deck box unsleeved since the video was made. Just checked and it is mildly pringled. :( The room is kept in relative humidity of 60-65% in the day though it does spike to 70-75% sometimes when the AC isn't on.
Thank you for your sacrifice, pretty trash and you don't even get double sided foil tokens. at least give a full collectors pack in the premium version.
You mentioned we dont see venser he died curing karn from the phyrexians thats how karn got his spark or something to that sort i might be slightly off but thats what happened he died a while back way before i started playing
Deep Clue Sea is the strongest and most thematic deck - when it pops off, it's hard to beat out of the box for sure. Revenant Recon needs more surveil cards!
@@SLowMtG when I made changes to my deck, I didn't make too many that weren't thematic? is pretty much tefaris talent, chromatic lantern and prismatic omen. pretty much it.
@@SLowMtG I usually play one game a week and I'm going to choose this one for this week's upcoming. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I think I understand it
Erm. Not quite sure what you mean. I'm cracking these for my personal collection and just doing taking a different take on box openings. Not sure what integrity has to do with my personal opening but thanks for the comment.
@@SLowMtG if the truth is that boxes with surge foils have a different weight than those without, that leads me to believe that some companies that sell these boxes, not saying you, will keep the boxes with the surge foils for opening to sell singles, then yeah, the integrity of that process is highly questionable. I made that comment because, I do believe this happens and it was a general statement regarding the fact that this finding and/or question of this theory in the first place has the potential of creating a precedent of said questionable integrity.
@@architectofdreams73 I get you. This has happened for other card games like One Piece where boxes/packs are 'searched'. MTG itself has a history of packs being searched by stores/collectors alike. Back in the day 93/94 packs were searchable due to the cellophane being white and slightly transparent - you could push the card to the white portion and see what it is. Later on in the era of foils, there was a way to slide the packs side-to-side so you could feel the friction of a foil card in a pack. Etc. I really should post my 2nd video - TLDR, it's going to be hard to pack search for surge foils as there are so many types of foils in a pack. The best you can do is to open packs with more foils - but there's no way to distinguish between surge or otherwise. At least not unless you have some way of weight down 3-4 decimal points in accuracy.
@@SLowMtG there also used to be box mapping if you recall. Some say it still exists...but there is no definitive proof. Some say there is an algorithm to certain cards and their percentage of likelihood of showing up in a pac based on sheet prints, etc. I will give you an example of what I mean. So I wanted to buy a case of the Fallout Collectors boosters, but at that point in time, nobody had a full case for sale. Statistically speaking, the chances of getting a serialized bobblehead was somewhere in the ballpark of 1:500 give or take. So in theory, you have potential of getting one per case at 180 cards per box. There were a few stores that only had 5 boxes for sale. My lgs said they only got 4 boxes shipped. But they were using single packs as prizes at their FNM event on the release date of Fallout, which would account for at least one more box. All of this had me suspicious that somehow these sellers figured out which box out of the case had the serialized card and possibly sold the card under some other name or whatever. I didnt get a serialized bobblehead in opening 5 boxes, and while that is statistically possible, I still have my suspensions, but that's just a theory....a case theory.
@@architectofdreams73 I don't know if mapping still exists - but there's something to be said about Fallout collation. In my 4 boxes so far (from the same sealed case), there was a tendency to have a similar card appear across multiple variants. For example, I might open a card in regular set foil, EA and either EA NF or F. Strange. And you tend to get 1 surge foil per box in either the Pipboy or VATs showcase. Also, I'm not sure the odds of the Serialised are 1:500? It's in less than 1% of the print run.
They do that for hobby and sports cards - they put in filler cards to prevent folks from trying to pick the packs with the thick inserts. In this case, this is for my personal collection and just an experiment. Coz why not. Thanks for watching.
This is just for kicks. Not being super scientific about it. Also, my scale sucks. It's used for coffee making and isn't accurate enough to pick up the minute differences between packs.
any company making sleeves with out black inner is living in the past and locking out a huge consumer base. Dragonshield Dual Matte are the apex of sleeve design and enginnerin.
I'll check out the Dragonshield Dual Mattes. I used to use dragonshield mattes but the extra lip on the top always got rather ratty/crinkled after awhile. I think Katanas have good clarity + shuffle feel and KMC Hyper Mattes are good bang for buck.
Last pack of dual mattes I got were cut so poorly on the side that they were unusable. Dragon Shields in general shuffle way worse nowadays, idk if their QA went out the window or what, but it’s got me looking for alternatives for the first time in years.
@@PurpleFlurpWF Sorry to hear that! I use KMCs as they fit a nice price to quality ratio. Are they the clearest? No. Do they have the best shuffle feel? No. But boy are they affordable if you get them in Japan. Something like 3 usd per pack of 80 from places like Yodobashi camera. For shuffle feel and clarity, I do like the Katanas. But they seem to scratch and pick up fingernail marks easily. let me know what you end up using!
@@SLowMtGKMCs were my next choice to try! I use them exclusively for single-sleeved yugioh cards and I’m a huge fan, so hopefully that translates to the standard-sized version 🤞
Thank you for your comment and for watching all the way from Argentina. Appreciate the feedback - I will need to work out my lightning situation - I try my best to keep the cards face front to the camera so it's legible. But I'm off to google better lighting set ups!
