Hello, anyone with info?
@musicessences
@musicessences 11 дней назад
To find information about the specific vinyl color of your Tama Superstar drum kit, you can try the following steps: 1. Contact Tama Support: Reach out to Tama directly for detailed information on your drum kit's finish. You can contact them through their support page or email. Here is a contact address for Tama in the United States: - Hoshino USA Inc. - Address: 1726 Winchester Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020 USA - Phone: 215-638-8670 2. Consult the Tama History Book: The history of Tama drums might provide insights into various finishes used over the years. You can check the Tama history book for more details on past drum models and finishes (www.hoshinogakki.co.jp/pdf/tama/catalog/TAMA_historyBook.pdf) 3. Visit Drum Forums: Engaging with online drum communities, such as the Vintage Drum Forum or Drum Chat, can be helpful. Other drummers might have similar kits and can share their knowledge or experiences (www.vintagedrumforum.com/thread/tama-superstar-identication-and-information-help.48151?page=1) 4. Check for Catalogs or Reissues: Sometimes, Tama reissues popular models with original finishes. Checking current catalogs or reissue announcements might provide clues about your drum kit's finish (www.tama.com/eu/news/detail/20231110154450.html) 5. Or visit a local large store with a representative office and ask its representatives. By following these steps, you should be able to gather more information about your Tama Superstar's unique vinyl color. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By the way - send me pictures... it's very interesting to look at them.)

The Brooklyn set example you show played by Mike Johnston is actually a blue sparkle vintage Gretsch usa custom set not a Brooklyn set.

Thank you for pointing that out! I appreciate your attention to detail. It seems there was an error in the video regarding the drum kit being played by Mike Johnston. The kit shown was a blue sparkle vintage Gretsch USA Custom set, not a Brooklyn set. I often have to prepare material or create videos at night after my main work.. so I can lose my vigilance. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. I'll make sure to address this in future content and ensure that the correct information is provided. @musicessences 19 дней назад
Thank you for your comment! The reason I didn't mention the Tama Silverstar Birch in my top 5 TAMA drums video is that I aimed to highlight models that are typically favored by more advanced drummers and that stand out for their unique features and sound characteristics. While the Silverstar Birch is indeed a solid kit with great sound quality due to its birch shells, I wanted to focus on models like the Starclassic and Superstar series, which have a longer history of professional use and are often recognized for their superior hardware and versatility. I appreciate your understanding, and I value your input! If you have any specific features or experiences with the Silverstar that you think should be highlighted, I'd love to hear them!

@musicessences 19 дней назад
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on those Tama drum lines! It's great to hear from someone with experience across different Tama models. The Pre-Tama Royal Star, reissued Superstar, and Starclassic Walnut/Birch are all excellent drum kits with their own unique characteristics. Each represents a different era and approach in Tama's drum making history. The Royal Star was one of Tama's early high-end offerings, known for its quality and sound. The reissued Superstar brings back some of that classic Tama sound with modern manufacturing techniques. And the Starclassic Walnut/Birch combines two great tonewoods for a versatile, professional-grade kit. Your experience with these different lines gives you a great perspective on how Tama's drums have evolved over the years. If you have any specific thoughts on how they compare or what you like about each, I'd be really interested to hear more! Thanks for adding your knowledge to the discussion.

Starclassic walnut birch!!!
@musicessences
@musicessences 19 дней назад
Thank you for your enthusiasm about the Starclassic Walnut/Birch! I appreciate your question about why I included the Starclassic Maple but not the Walnut/Birch in my top 5 Tama drum kits. Personal preference: As with any "top" list, there's an element of personal choice involved. I find the Maple's tonal qualities particularly appealing. That said, the Starclassic Walnut/Birch is an outstanding kit in its own right. It offers a unique blend of warmth from the walnut and punch from the birch. If I were to expand the list, it would certainly be a strong contender for inclusion. Both kits are professional-grade and capable of delivering exceptional sound. The choice between them often comes down to personal preference and the specific tonal qualities a drummer is seeking.

I guess it's the Pearl sound, but most of the medium to high end sets always sound tubby, boomy, and with exaggerated low end that sounds fine alone in a room, or mic'd up in a studio. When other instruments are added to the mix, the drums seem to lack the ability to cut through with clarity.
@musicessences
@musicessences 19 дней назад
Thank you for sharing your perspective on Pearl drums. Your observation about their sound characteristics is interesting and valuable. I appreciate your insight into the sound profile of Pearl's medium to high-end drum sets. While many drummers enjoy the full, resonant sound that Pearl is known for, you've raised a valid point about how these characteristics can sometimes present challenges in a full band mix. It's true that drums with pronounced low-end can sound great in isolation or in controlled studio environments. However, in live settings or dense mixes, this can sometimes lead to clarity issues. That said, drum sound is subjective and can vary greatly depending on factors like tuning, head choice, and playing technique. Many professional drummers successfully use Pearl kits across various genres and settings. Your feedback highlights the importance of considering how drums perform in different musical environments. It's a crucial factor that drummers should consider when choosing their kit. Thank you for adding this valuable perspective to our discussion!

How does the Mapex saturn 5 studioease rank?
@musicessences
@musicessences 19 дней назад
Thank you for asking about the Mapex Saturn V Studioease! Here's my take on how it ranks: The Mapex Saturn V Studioease is generally considered a high-quality, professional-grade drum kit that ranks very well among its peers. Here are some key points about its ranking: 1. Sound Quality: The Saturn V is known for its warm, full-bodied tone with excellent projection. The hybrid shells (maple and walnut) provide a unique sound that many drummers appreciate for its versatility across different musical genres 2. Build Quality: Mapex is renowned for their attention to detail, and the Saturn V series showcases this with high-quality hardware, precise bearing edges, and durable finishes2. 3. Features: The Studioease configuration often includes shallower toms and a deeper bass drum, which is favored by many studio drummers for its controlled sound and easy tuning 4. Value: While it's not a budget kit, many drummers feel the Saturn V offers excellent value for its price point, especially considering its professional-grade features and sound 5. Versatility: The kit is praised for its wide tuning range and ability to sound great in both live and studio settings 6. Comparison to Competitors: It's often compared favorably to other high-end kits from brands like DW, Pearl, and Tama in terms of sound quality and build Overall, the Mapex Saturn V Studioease ranks very highly in the professional drum kit market. It's considered a top choice for serious drummers and professionals who want a versatile, high-quality kit without stepping into the ultra-premium price range.

Thank you for sharing your experience with your 1985 Pearl Export kit! It's impressive that you've maintained it for so long and have made thoughtful upgrades with the Evans heads. Your point about experimenting with drumheads and tuning is spot on; these factors can significantly impact the overall sound and performance of a drum kit. It's great to hear that sound engineers recognize the quality of your vintage kit compared to newer models. Many drummers find that older kits, especially those that have been well cared for, can produce a unique warmth and character that is hard to replicate. Pearl drums have indeed earned a reputation for being reliable and versatile, making them a fantastic choice for drummers at all levels. Your passion for playing and learning is inspiring, and it's clear that your kit holds a special place in your heart. Keep enjoying your drumming journey! 🥁❤️
