After a battle with cancer In 2016 Jason and his family sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city to work for ourselves and work together as a family. After building a 1.5 acre property into an efficient homestead we are starting new on 14 acres. Converting an horse property into a pasture raised family farm of our dreams.
Do you ever eat the beet greens, they are delicious cooked with some smoked pork? That way you can harvest the greens and leave the actual beet in the ground to get bigger.
Hurts my heart to see you getting rid of the beet greens. They are so good to eat sauteed with onion and balsamic vinegar. Just be sure to cut off the vein.
After having gone through a massive drought here where i live in Australia, you guys have just convinced me that its time to install a drip system. I have a huge dam (pond) that i usually draw from to water my gardens using a sprinkler system, but this year for the first time the water in the dam dropped so low that i could not get water up to the garden. So thank you for thos video which has given me inspiration to swap over. Btw. Your beets look amazing. I love roasted beets too but i usually plant so many that i turn them into beetroot relish and pickled beetroot. ❤❤❤
Great job on the drip system. I would recommend that in the hot summer you water the whole beds in the high tunnel and give them a good soaking at least once a week along with the drip system. Unless it rains in there. 😁👍
who needs a stepping machine when your a homesteader lol you get your steps in all day maybe one day get a counter to see how many steps you do in a day i would love to find out hugsssss
You made me hungry! Please check out GARDEN ANSWER for their advise on drip tape. They suggest to plaace the tape so that the water comes out the TOP of the tape! That discourages bugs, especially earwigs, from crawling into the tape. Also sedament does not accumulate and plug the drip hole. They have lots of great suggestions and advise! Keep on Gardening!
Jason you crack me up with your creative videos!!! First you put the camera on the ground and your face is popping through the plants while you put in the drip line! LOL. Then you end hand feeding a Bernice a grub!! I just LOVE your humor!!!
Good job on the drip system. Ir was a good idea to have Lorraine suggest where to put the line. Those beets and carrots looked so good but then everything has looked good. Soon you will run out of projects.
