I looked up what happened to Skillings after he was released from prison. He's learned nothing, but the man's also done. He tried to start up another company the moment he got out of prison, just like the very ill-fated Fyre Festival 2.0. And as that's likely to turn out, it was withdrawn within two years. He's a snake forever, but Skilling's is also one that's permanently grounded. He'll never run a major business again.
I think Molly describing great political skills describes Joe Biden. He might not be the smartest or articulate president we've ever had but his understanding of the US Senate, and governing, is maybe the best since LBJ. Not surprisingly, despite a very narrow majority in the House and Senate his first two years, he oversaw one of the most expansive legislative agendas of any modern president. She was off about Clinton, tho (not her fault, as this was before he ever became president). Clinton was skillful - at doing things that benefited him politically. It's why he adopted triangulation after the 1994 midterms. I guess in a way it was skillful, as it led to his turning things around and getting reelected. But in terms of tangible policy, Clinton's legacy is mixed, if not a big weak.
actually the best song ever recorded this video tries to capture it...perfect voices perfect harmony arrangements...and those killer bass movements I truly love you Jimmy and family for giving the world this song . Nick
We are where they were. last years of our lives singing as women for the things that must be said...heard.changed.with our heads back and our voices open.silenced no more. Change happening with every note
A man shoots another guy in the streets for drugs he is executed, but a man frauding millions and causing one suicide (and probably more) he only serves a few years and a fine
who in their right mind would divulge everything at 1:42? Do you really expect him to admit fault in this kind of hearing? This is just a venue for the reps to vent the anger of their voters. The meat comes out in court, later, more slowly.
Of course he knew and so did Ken Lay. This was not a one time occurrence that maybe slipped by him but rather a systematic cooking of the books every quarter to meet Wall Street expectations and keep the stock price high. He justified it in his mind that as long as the accountants were willing to sign off on it then he was ok and he figured every corporation at this level plays these accounting games.
Molly Ivins could say what she wanted about herself, but I thought she was a lovely woman !! Just that thick, red hair alone could make many of us jealous !! I really miss this woman's charm, intelligence and beauty - not to mention her wicked and hilarious sense of humour !! 😀😀😄😄😄😃☺️☺️
