That's a very useless video of you watching minis on a website dude.. Of you're gonna call the video "print ur own shit" then print ur own shit in the video..
I guess it's personal preference... As far as texture paints go, I really like them. I prefer the results to the Citadel ones and while not quite the same value for money you get with the big Vallejo or AK pots, they are very reasonable price wise. If you just used these on their own, you'd be left with some passable, tabletop standard quick bases. But I think the real value with these comes when you use them with other basing materials to help build an effect. Again, it's all down to personal preference. I can tell you from my side I really liked them, and as i was changing my paint set up over to Pro Acryl anyway, i picked these up, but they might not be for you, especially if you have something similar in your arsenal already. That probably doesn't help, but thank you for watching and thank you for commenting!
I'm rather disappointed in the new set, after opening it and taking everything out it felt....well kind of empty for the price, I don't know it feels like there should have been a little bit more that could have justified the price gouging their doing, I mean it didn't even have the Spearhead cards for both sides and the quick reference guides would have been nice. It seems like a rip off
One of the things we noticed and discussed after was the lack of a quick reference sheet or two for the rules in there. They were so useful in the previous sets we've bought. Regarding the spearhead cards for each side, that's also a big oversight... I will admit I've been tied up with family things since we filmed the video and haven't had a chance to go back over everything thoroughly. But that definitely should have been included. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment, it's really appreciated!
Nice breakdown on the box. It's a shame it doesn't appear to be selling well, similarly to Dominion. Last I checkt my usual online store they had more than 180 boxes in Stock. Apparently. My biggest gripe with it, personally, is the actual box itself though. It's the same thin cardboard that Soul Wars had. I really wish it had the proper, hard card box like Dominion and Leviathan had. On the issue of push-fit. After close to 20years of eyeing 40k, and never getting into it from being intimidated by the glueing part, I was really fortunate to come across the Recruit Edition of 40k a couple years back. But now after a bit more experience, I do agree that they have become a negative for me. Mostly because I don't want to chop up my Stormcast just to convert them to Space Marines. It'd be much nicer to be able to just pop on some SM arms and shoulder pads...
I always hate how having something actually available to buy is considered selling badly. God forbid stock is actually around for people outside the first 15 minutes.
I think its a double edged thing... a FLGS we know only sold their last box of dominion recently, and we've all heard that the set didn't sell as well as hoped... But for a store to have 180 copies available 1 day after release, is that because they ordered a lot more, or are people perhaps being a little cautious with money? Generally we're midway between paydays, in the UK the school holidays are almost here and people in general are trying to make their money stretch... it might be that there's a sudden rush once the kids break up as people want a summer project Like I said in the video, I'm not as clued up on AOS as I am on 40k, but it always seems that 40k gets the lions share of publicity and "push" but also, has the old world release filled a void for people who would have bought this otherwise? Where we are from, I think any of our independent retailers ordering 180+ copies, they would still have stock when 5th edition launches. Hopefully the box sells well and more and more people discover the hobby. Let's be honest, for all we sometimes like to moan about GW, this is the best hobby in the world and more people should find that out! Thank you both for watching and commenting! Ben
@@elphiefanful I'm not saying many boxes being available is a bad thing in itself. My fear with it is that it may give GW reason to produce less boxes with future releases. And it really does appear to not sell well, compared to, for example, 40k Battleforces that are sold out in an instant.
Once we get our heads round how to play the game, we will definitely think about it! We want to get some batreps on the channel but we want to make sure we can do them right! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Just putting together my box as I watch this. There is a separate spearhead starter set with board, terrain and cards but it doesn’t contain the book. Assuming rules are available online?! Liked and subbed
This is incredible news! Craig is a fantastic actor and I can't wait to see what he does in the Hardcore Hare universe. So happy for Dan and the team for making this happen! So cool, I can't wait to see what's next
Great, now I have to get a first issue signed by Craig. What are you guys doing to me....grrrr. Great interview Rob......and nice editing of the comics and I presume that was a poster. Well done team. 👍
I've said this for decades- Spawn needs a direct story to sell/pitch the spawn story to bigwigs. Batman, spiderman, superman, they have direct knowledge of what the character can/can't do, baddies and a simple moral. Spawn's not media friendly and they did pg13 stuff in the 90s...I think it'd be more mass media friendly to keep him a dark superhero, instead of a slight pinhead ripoff plugging Spawn into violent and sadistic horror stories. Sure, it'd of course have a following as a horror movie, but not the extent of a "more friendly" iteration done right.
I have got into Kroot after years away, and more recently kabuto, the dark sector and a game about mythical creatures in america thats really good. Im also looking forward to the worms board game. Id definitely be up for a trip next year
You should check out the Winsor&Newton Galeria texture gels. Sand effect gel is 250ml for £10 at The Range. Downside is you need to paint it as it’s colourless but VERY useful. Also have other types, but I only buy the sand stuff.
Awesome! Thanks for the recommendation, I'll head down to my local Range at the weekend and see what they have! Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting! Ben
25:53 who's that gorgeous dream boat in the orange beanie. Also I would like to see the metal gear solid board game. Just had to look at the miniatures they look amazing. I would like to see how the game plays.
Honestly i feel that the first two color textures do not matter as much, any one of there coarse would work for the first and any one of the fine would work for the second ultimately. I did this with the coarse brown and fine brown and I could not tell the difference after the 3 coats of paint. Infact i feel most people just paint over there textures so there color never really matters, just coarse and fine is what matters. Snow of course is different as you always want it to be your last thing on your model so you can make it look like snow falling on to everything and probably why they show it off specifically.
Todd you are a asshole I do not like you at all you always said you wanted spawn to be a house hold name the makers of the Batman Arkham series video games would do spawn justice would start everything off again movies the animated series everything would just jump start everything I love spawn I love everything spawn except the spawn movie I didn’t like it at all but the animated series I have it on dvd I almost had every issue of spawn I had special covers special issues of spawn then it all got stolen now I’m starting all over again but I’m okay with that but Todd you need to get your head out of your ass and let somebody else take over spawn lion gates films would do spawn justice no name actor no name actor would bring spawn to light the new crow movie I feel that director would do spawn justice but you need to let someone else take over you always want your hand in it but your a comic book drawer not a actor not a director not a movie production studio you can fine the right people to do spawn and bring spawn to light and life with someone else knowing what exactly they know how to do it not you Todd someone else needs to light the torch not you move on and die Todd pass the torch to someone else that’s the bottom line
Nice Video. I once won a external LACIE harddrive at Dreamhack playing PacMan on the same machine. At one time a ghost walked through me without killing me. And i just got enough points to win the harddrive. Keep up the good work.
22:55 he goes on a bit of a rant about about how the lame sc@mdemic was temporarily profitable for comic book and toy creators. Nothing about how the woke propaganda and covid cult is ruining the entire entertainment industry, like we have seen with Marvel and DC's shows and movies? Independent comic book creators like Rippaverse's ISOM got massive success...and you know why? cuz it isn't woketarded and actually gives people what they want: good plot, writing, and characters. I cant even finish watching this interview. I am worried Todd will be a woke clown like George RR Martin.
@MalcomMalediction Yeah, Todd ain't gonna say shit about the wokified shithole the comicbook industry is, regardless of every other entertainment medium being infected also, he's outnumbered & he has no reason, currently, to yap about woke crap. If this nevergonnahappen new movie comes out, the woke Sauron eye will shine on him then. Until then, no need to say shit.
I just hope this Spawn movie wont be woketarded like so many superhero movies are these days. Spawn is my #1 favourite and it would be hella sad to see woketardism destroy him.
MalcomMalediction I think subterfuge will happen and woke shit will creep in. It's not Todd I'm concerned about, it's the other folks hired on "making decisions"
Hey Todd McFarlane I would like to get a book sign from you. Will you ever go to Colorado Springs. And I’m also I have been looking for spawn #29 in #100 I can never find none
Thanks for watching! We're glad you enjoyed it! While you're here, we have another interview with Todd and Sean Gordon Murphy on the channel that you might enjoy too!
I love Monument Hobby products, their paint and their glaze medium are unmatched. These basing texture materials are simply too expensive to buy in the UK. 120ml Pro Acryl is £13+ where as AK Interactive sells 250ml for £8.99. I'm not sure about prices in the USA, but when I can get twice as much for less money, it isn't even a question of which to buy. Monument Hobbies paint brushes are very good, well worth taking a chance on them as I'm yet to get a bad brush. Windsor and Newton, Rosemary & Co, Artis Opus, Da Vinci, Raphael, all have given me brushes with crap bristles in the past. Not so with Monument Hobbies. My only complaint with M.H. brushes is that I prefer a bigger belly on the bristles, more akin to water colour brushes. I'd love it if M.H. did a range with fat belly bristles.
The brushes must be good, they're always out of stock everywhere 😂 Your point about the price here is spot on, and we made sure to point that out in the video. price per ml compared to vallejo / AK / Citadel equivalent is high, and these aren't for everyone. I was lucky enough that I could afford to pick these up and wanted to show what they could do, but there are so many alternatives out there, and not even with texture pastes that whatever someone's budget and requirements are, there's something out there! Thanks for watching and thank you for commenting! Ben
I thought I mentioned in the video, but maybe I showed the website but didn't actually say! Check them out at www.frontierwargaming.com they have a few different products to look through! Thank you for watching, commenting and pointing out that I'd missed this. I'll add the website in to the video description now! Ben
Amazing! Let us know how you get on with it when it arrived. I'm still loving mine to this day, it's definitely a good investment! And 1 week to reach you over there? Are they putting it on a private jet for you? 😀 Thanks for watching and commenting!
@tantrumsandtabletops I'm positive I'm going to love it lol. But I will update. I feel like it'll make it quite easy to go from dad mode to me to me time later in the evening! Well, not quite 1 week... 8 days... but even so! Glad you're still loving it! I already feel like I'm going to have to get a few more draws/trays down the road lol.
Firstly, thank you so much! With the paints drying out, honestly not that I've experienced. I use a wet palette 90% of the time and even when I use something like the GW palette pad they stay useable for as long as I need them. I am only putting a small amount of paint down at a time mind you, so I'm probably using it before it gets a chance! As for the caps, I know people dislike them, but I don't have any major problems. They do get a bit messy, but I keep a little kitchen towel to hand so once I've taken what I need I can wipe the end of the cap. I guess you could argue you shouldn't have to do that, and maybe I'm just too patient 😂 You can replace the caps as well which is useful (bit an additional expense). I did think about the flip style ones like Vallejo metal colours but won't do it yet... baby food gets expensive! Thank you for watching and for the comment! Ben
Some of us love ducks in a way the good lord did not intend... we can't say who for fear of reprisal from the ducklovers guild, but we have been paying for intense therapy. The...BILL had been ginormous 🤣🤣
I would gladly try them out but if you live outside USA or UK they're horrendously expensive - in my parts they're twice the price of AK Interactive 3rd Gen. From what I gathered there isn't much difference between Pro Acryl and AK paints in quality as they both are top tier, so it seems it's not worth to invest in them too much.
I guess import fees will have a knock on effect to the cost unfortunately. I am lucky that in the UK element games stock them. I'm sorry they aren't cost effective for you where you are. If you can't get hold of these I would definitely recommend the AK 3rd gens, I have a few sets of those and they are also excellent paints!
For short: -the nozzles are crap -they are very matte -the reds, blues, greens, yellows, the white and black, the greys and browns are very very good. The purples and teals exceptional -the skin tones are okish, irrelevant after guilliman flesh -the ivories are very bad -the metallics are trash -the transparents....noone uses the transparents -vinces set is better than ninjons -the other artists sets are for collectors -the washes are the best on the market -Prize is good per ml -they are well substituted by ak 3rd gen, duncans line and new gamecolor - they dont work well with shtadel. -maybe ap fanatic are a good sub too, we see -they dont work good with ANY contrast paint, until you varnish them first. Like every very matte paint -the pigments are very rich -the primers are the best ever -the mediums....are mediums. -if you want to test only a few buy: White, Black, Pyrrole red, blue, jade, purple oyal purple. -there are new neon colors, which are ok, but like all neon colors hard to handle -there is a new medium where you can age your models easily without oil or enamel paints. called newsh.
At first, I thought the Monument stuff looked like garbage. But seeing it combined looked pretty good. However, Vallejo can be used by just slapping it on. I’ve been using scale 75 stuff and it’s been really nice. But it’s not the easiest to get in the US. Monument and citadel is much easier to find.
