Pull the ones that leave blank spaces on paper that already has a geometric print on it. Especially when you’re working with dark colours, you’ll have the geometric bits showing through. It could even be a floral print, polka dots, whatever you want to have fill in the white leaves
This book is amazing! I have it on my shelf, but I need to get it out again and use it for reference again. And yes, a composition video would be awesome, I always really appreciate your input on different topics! ❤😊
Those paintings were so interesting, I'm assuming much of the texture was lost in the photographic process? They reminded me of batik fabric designs. Just goes to show that the principles of design matter even when working more abstractly.
Great point. They really do look very batik. Yes, there’s always some loss when translating into a photograph. Are you a textile artist? It’s such a huge element in artwork. Looking at pictures is not the same as looking at the original.
Appreciate your take on all this Kory -- I tend to resist any kind of rules in making art but you present them in such a way that they seem much less threatening -- and maybe even helpful :)
Well said! Haha. I felt the same way for a long time. But I didn’t understand how to make my focal point pop and how to keep a person looking at the work. It’s fun to gain a new perspective. Plus, I think looking at them as secrets doesn’t steal any of the fun from the process. 😉🎨
So beautiful! And so gracious of you to share what you have learned over a lifetime -- your way/s of making art are very much your own but they're always a source of inspiration -- and information -- also love how you use natural elements (which are art in themselves :) ❤
Will you tell me what I’m doing wrong with the dried print? I’m so frustrated. I’ve tried over and over and the dry paint print will not transfer. Do I need a certain type of paint? Only the top layer comes up. I would really appreciate your help with this.
Sure! I’m sorry you’re having trouble and frustration! I totally get it with the gelli plate. Had my share too. You need to leave your paper on for at least 10 minutes. It’s gotta soak up all the paint and you can’t pull a print quickly when you have dry layers. I like to use mixed media paper, because it’s thicker than printer paper, and thinner than watercolor paper. I really hope this helps! Let me know how you do. You got this! ☺️🎨
Thank you. They come out so beautiful and they’re easy to create. I have a few little tutorials on how to paint these. Here’s one. I hope you give it a try. 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2v6MmaaGXCw.htmlsi=faGiAAR8dLkHjSDE
