My boats cursing speed is dictated by how rough the water is :). Hard to get the best if your having to constantly adjust throttle to avoid getting smacked by big waves.
I run an '98 Whaler Dauntless with a 115 hp Yamaha primary and 15 hp kicker. I put in a 320 liter tank and fish 100 miles offshore. Proped right, with three on board and the load distributed properly it walks through 5 foot seas no problem at 18 knots. And it's dryer than most larger boats. It's cheap to operate and goes where the 30 to 40 foot multi engines go but uses 1 liter per ¾ mile. For me small boats with single engines have their advantages. Probably go multi engines on boats over 24 feet though.
The anchor is only a part of this system, and the other is the chain. Don't go cheap on the chain and buy a decent amount. The anchor digs into the ground but the chain delivers friction towards the ground and thereby holds the boat. One would be surprised about how small a anchor one can get away with but again..don't go cheap and buy a crappy little one for a large boat.
rebuilt the raw water pump on merc R drive and appear to have low flow? Drill motor attached to drive shaft on the lower at 500 rpm and water only come out about 3-4" above the water feed tube. suggestions?
I’ve had mine deleted on my 2004 90 Yamaha for years and it’s been doing great. I never worry when I’m on the water. Plus I can take the cowling fill cap off and have an instant cold air intake HA!
Know how to really make a 2 stroke live forever? Go old and I mean ooooold and make it a Mercury. My boat has a 1969 Mercury 65hp 4 cylinder Merc 650. Simplicity at its finest, not the fastest Mercury by a long shot but it gets my 1960 Glasspar Citation up on plane instantly and going 34mph with no complaints ever. Always starts just loves to run.
I had a problem it stopped peeing at idle but was fine reverb up a bit. It seems to be putting a lot of air in the water. I worked hard at doing it exactly right. Not sure what is going on..?
One more trick to add to the video. If the drive shaft is stuck in the crank . . . Loosen all bolts (but don’t remove them) put the boat in the water and shift the engine forward and then reverse 25 times. The lower will usually drop.
You ABSOLUTELY LIE. My Evinrude G2 200 H.O burns cleaner than any 4stroke PROVEN…and it burns the oil completely in combustion with precision injection and mix ratio of 14:1 that is constantly being adjusted by demand (throttle position) and metered/adjusted, over 5000 per second. In other words it is perfectly mixed and combusted no matter what rpm or load the motor is at. It’s the ONLY two stroke allowed on Lake Tahoe, and any waters in Europe. It’s been tested and proven a cleaner exhaust than 4 strokes, and it uses oil in the combustion and 4 strokes don’t. Plus it’s more powerful for the same HP rating than 4 strokes, not to mention better mpg. Proven as well. When you open your mouth, know the facts. Research something besides your biases. I did before I ever bought mine.
i bought a used 20hp mercury 4 stroke Crestliner aluminum bass boat for local lake that has 20 hp limit this model did not have all the gauges like speed fuel and rpm but they do make same boat and model with gauges is there an easy way to add a tachometer or speedometer to the boat i tried small electronic tach and it sucked it was not accurate and said to calibrate it with another tachometer
I have a little weed eater outboard on my canoe. It's lighter than a 4 stroke, and I've customized mine into a monster, and It's hella easy to work on. I have a feeling it's all about money, like the economy makes more money on 4 strokes.
What a shidhole. Dude needs a scrap metal dumpster, a log grapple, and a tub grinder. Crunch the things in half ahead of the engine compartment, toss the engine and drive half to the disassembly pile, grind the rest of the hull and put the trailers by the road for 100 bucks each.
The other problem is there are certain things that can go wrong with a 4-stroke that you can't even fix if you wanted to you can't even limp it back just like when I got stuck on the road with my truck because the electronic fuel pump went out fuel injection doesn't function without pressure as opposed to a carburetor that you can limp back by pouring fuel into it
So, phosphoric acid, tannic acid, or muriatic acid.. But someone has to come up with the proper ratio, to clean everything out, without damaging what you are cleaning..
Bought a brand new motor on auction from a company for 2 weeks ago. Havent even been out on the lake yet but when its tilted theres a oil leakage from 2 small holes located in front of the shift shaft. :( I cant determine if its gearhouse oil or not because it feels more lubricant and thinner but at the same time it does not smell like motoroil.. Could it be gearhouse oil anyways? I filled oil from the level plug because there was already a bit of oil in it but not so much..
You should do a video mocking up 2 batteries and how to wire it accordingly so it doesn't cook out batteries, that would awesome, you seem very knowledgeable on the topic. Thanks for the great content thus far
Just got a boat with a broke shifter. Stuck in 4th gear. And apparently can't reverse. Can't fix it till I take it out of water but I have no trailer and it's a 28 ft boat they can't pick up with their forklift.
they say on my mercury 20 hp to check oil when level but the top of the cover is level while the bottom is sloped so I assume they mean level on top and the plane above the propeller ?
