DONNE | WOMEN IN MUSIC INSPIRING CHANGE, SUPPORTING & INCLUDING WOMEN IN MUSIC. Driving equality, diversity and inclusion across the music industry.
DONNE is a charitable foundation that is here to make a positive change in the fight against gender inequality within the music industry. Our main goal is to celebrate, advance, and amplify women in music so that they are seen, heard, and appreciated for their talent so they can leave a legacy of inspiration for future generations.
It really has not progressed much since the 70s , in some ways it is worse because how do you call anyone out whom does not have the courage to be straight and open ?
Simply magnificent! The music is tantalizing and the poetry a masterpiece. I am James Harpur's Italian translator and I had the privilege of reading the poem even before it was published.
At 2:05 is that the composer in the inset window ? The woman looks a bit like her but I'm not sure. Either way, thanks for this tribute to a remarkable woman.
🎉"Happy birthday"🎉 Fanny🎂 that piece 🎼 is beautiful. 💌There were probably women afraid to even touch a piano in the early 1800s let alone master it continuesly. Females have come a long way you would be proud, but something tells me you would have us continue and never give up fighting for equality⚖️in all areas. Thank you for the gift you left us and for puting the 🗝️ in our hands to be the best we can be no matter what obstacles we must go through. This is something you deserved then & now🏆 you will never be🙏 forgotten. With love🌹 and admiration Thank you.
What happened to her legacy!! Why did I not learn about her in school or sing her music in my singing exams? Thank you for sharing her astounding career. Adore the accompaniment too - so dramatic and strong
Sou clarinetista profissional da banda do corpo de bombeiros de Alagoas e formando em licenciatura em música pela UFAL. E achei lindo seu trabalho de resgate de grandes compositoras da história da música. Vou levar sua plataforma para os professores do curso de música. 👏👏👏👏👏
What an interesting cycle of videos. Women are appreciated as performers, but not as composers. I was once on a private piano concert devoted to women composers and, even having some education from a Warsaw school of music had for the first time listened to Nadia and Lili Boulanger. I was aware only about Grażyna Bacewicz and some minor composers like Maria Szymanowska as national curiosity. Please continue this cycle, becuase it not only presents the music, but also these artists as outstanding persons.
Research has shown that Henry Brewster was her lover and soulmate, so the categorization of Smyth as a lesbian needs to be reevaluated. www.ethelsmyth.org/
