I forgot all about this account. Lol. The steering works but not as responsive with the motor off. I did get a universal rudder that I attached above the motor to be able to steer better with motor off. Let me know if you want the information on the rudder I added.
@@fishnaddiction5805 I’m definitely looking for direction. I’m Female so it takes me a bit longer to figure it out. I do not know how which way to go. The way you did or use the motor on the 3m template adhesive option bixpy offers for mounting the set up. Like you I want to have a nice rudder while pedaling for position while casting. Any guidance from you would be greatly appreciated. Your video helped me a lot. How do u like the motor? Im looking at the new k2 with the bigger battery.
@@TheDarkHorse949 I currently use two motor right now for the Lynx. The one that you see and the one that goes in the pedal drive. I recommend getting the mount that goes in the pedal slot. Yes, it requires you to take the motor in and out but trust me when I say that setting up is much easier, easier to clear off weeds and grass, and no worries of your fishing line getting caught. Ive had to jump out of the kayak a few times with the setup shown on the video.
@@fishnaddiction5805 I have found rudder mount motors to be the best. I love Texas Power Paddle mounted on the rudder. It's lightweight and easy to clean.
I've heard good things about them. Not sure on price point though unless I'm looking at a different one. But definitely curious. My setup has changed alot since this video. I just found that it just adds to the hastle on the point of the Lynx being a quick and easy transportable kayak. I now use this motor as a back up for my skiff.
I actually attached a rudder just above the motor. I'll make a video as soon as I can on the changes but steering worked even with the motor not being on but even better once I added a rudder above it.
Thanks for the input. It was sloppy but since this video was created, I've moved the battery to the bottom of the seat and have created a one click strap on it. I've also added a rudder on top of the motor. Still a bit sloppy but making small improvements. The lack of internal routing on the Lynx doesn't help neither. Always up for recommendations.
I appreciate the informative video. Do you know how much total weight is added to the kayak with everything - the bixpy mount, motor, battery and steering mechanism?
Nice install. I just ordered the motor mount for my lynx too. I'm also in SD! I liked the trailer you have for the outback and the lynx. Where did you get it?
The install is fairly simple. For Lowrance brands, you'll have to buy the mounts from an authorized hobie dealer and it bolts on directly. Inside the transducer plate under your hull
I wanted to keep the drive open since I still wanted to be able to pedal when I want to and with the Lynx having no storage area, I didn't want the pedals to take more room. Never looked into the Newport 180. I did an operational test yesterday and will be uploading the video before tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing the video. Looking forward to more videos on operation and performance, especially top speed. Particularly interested in how it turns using the Mirage drive. I want to power my way to the fishing area and then use the Mirage drive to fish the area.
I'm going out tomorrow to test it out depending on weather. But will post as soon as I can. Installation was very easy. Excited to get this thing running.
