I'm 39 years old, so I did grow up during the era that these games initially came out. Unfortunately I never played them back in the 90's. I have just bought the Phantasy Reverie compilation and played it a few minutes last night. I just came across this video and the title made me a bit worried. Is this a bad remaster?
I'm kinda weird in that I grew up with the original game back when it first came out and didn't play the second game until 2015, and I ended up loving that game even more. (Part of it being I was taken by surprised by the story, its underlying themes, and the way they were presented. And another part was I'm a sucker for early PS2 games) So, I was pretty excited when Phantasy Reverie was announced as for the longest time you could only get 2 physically or through emulation. So I jumped into that one first, and boy, I was disappointed by how unpolished it was. I wasn't as annoyed about DtP's remake since I mainly got the collection for 2, but I was still rather surprised at how unpolished that version was too. Trying to mash together the aesthetics of the PS1 game with the Wiimake's just made the whole thing feel off. At least the Wii version had it's own style and stuck to it. And I never even noticed the general drop in quality when it came to the little details like the inside of Ghadius' cape. As for what they did with Popka at the end, in the original, I always interpreted it as Popka giving Lolo alone time with Klonoa knowing how much she likes him. Although I was pleasantly surprised to see they made his positioning and animations were made more consistent in PRS. Unfortunately that's the only thing I can say PRS has over the original. Also, I played 2 about half a dozen times now I think and I've never noticed how the wind bullet changed color in the final fight. That's a cool attention to detail! In the end, I'm at least happy these two games are getting more attention. 2 in particular I feel has been overlooked by people for the longest time.
Yeah I'm quite surprised at how unknown the main bad guys of this game seem to be. Not even the leaders of the world or the great sages seems to have any idea of them.
You know,Street fighter 4 was never meant for kids and actually for teens but i still like it when i was 4 in 2012. (my brother introduced for me) and my parents don’t really mind about that because they believe we won’t do some bad/toxic behaviors like in video game.
that what create the existence of crossover game between adult characters and Kids characters. like you know Ps all stars battle royale,Marvel vs Capcom 3,Multiversus [Except out the smash bros], These game was never completely meant for kid because is rated around 12-16+ but no one care about that. so it’s eventually become for everyone. even i grow up i go back to found out these details that hidden from my childhood ,i still feel normal.

Yes that is right, I remember hearing this fact and being so shocked that I downloaded the song and reversed it myself to hear it and sure enough. What a weirdly specific easter egg.
@@MoombaTroopa Also some comments I've seen think the airplane sounds are referencing Joka's airship... and we all know what Big Sad Memory (tm) of Klonoa's THAT is associated with... I personally thought the various windy sounds were meant to be poking fun at how Klonoa literally got sucked out of Phantomile, too.
@@F1areon Oh wow, the airplane noise has just blown my mind, that would make perfect sense and I never thought about it like that before. It does sound similar too.
one detail I find kinda spooky on the newer version is that it looks vaguely like Cursed Leorina's jaw is broken, whereas in the old one her jaw still moves normally
Me and Olivia are both wanting to do chapter 2 at some point. It will be a bit of time before it happens but we have both completely avoided chapter 2 in order to stay blind ready for when we finally play it.
Hi! Rare Klonoa Wiimake lover! 😂 The Wii version was my first game in the series, so I guess I went in with unbiased eyes! I really do love the english dub through all its faults. It's cheesy but it works! Klonoa's voice doesn't fit K1, but I think it definitely suits him in K2. It's more mature than his usual voice, but scenes like the Wii ending show the VA has range! If we were ever to get that Klonoa movie, I'd want that to be his VA. Love the video btw!!
This frog prince story makes no sense at all. Why did he decided to turn into a frog to kill a snake. There was really no other magic or weapons strong enough to do during battle even though that's what we, a bunch of kids managed to do. How did Aapep get the stone, if Shadar brought him back, did Shadar give him the stone. Shouldn't he have taken it away, knowing we are coming for it? Who built this temple? Was it Aapep? When did he get resurrected, find the prince and build this temple? Or did the prince build the temple and for some reason decided to memorialise his crying fiance. I'm sure she would've loved that. Why was she hanging around for so long but didn't tell him she was there the whole time. Can he as a frog, not talk to frogs? She used the same potion the prince did but for some reason became a frog and not a frog human hybrid that can talk. Unless it originally turned the prince into a frog and then years being cursed caused him to slowly become a frog hybrid but then she should've also been under the curse for the same amount of time so why is she still just a frog? The curse broke when we killed Aapep, why didn't it break the first time the prince killed him? Aapep didn't even turn him into a frog, he did it to himself. Am I overthinking this?
Getting trapped inside pride rock was worth it for buying the cool absol zoroark pal from the black market. He's my favourite, I sure hope nothing happens to him
