[Intro] In history there are many examples of people taking refuge in or creating art in the face of oppression What is the definition of art? How does art define itself? What other reasonable boundaries define art in general? Why would people in history, literature and real life take part in it? Is it a conscious coping mechanism, or a subconscious side effect of suppression? Does it deal with these problems, or are its benefits short term, at that?
